Losing more respect for Penn St.

Hard to get worse, but the way people (especially their alum) are re-acting to this hire is just over the top. They aren't even giving the man a chance. It's just sickening that they don't think this situation is as bad as it really is. Here are Lavar Arrington's comments along with another alum...

LaVar Arrington, Other Penn State Alumni Upset With Penn State Coaching Search | SI Tracking Blog ? Tracking the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA On Twitter

Short even went as far as to call him "clueless"

Um, can we have BOB if they don't want him? They keep Bradley and we throw in KOK as a sort of trade! Everyone's happy.

For the fans, yes, but for the school I have to give them props for hiring someone with no ties to the Joe Paterno era.

Their fans don't get this but they need to distance themselves from that era as quickly as possible. Which is much easier said than done because alumni boosters, former players, etc wanting to be on the "inside". They all still love him.

"1986 All-American D.J. Dozier agreed with Short and Arrington, adding: “If the board or the committee believes that they need to go outside of the current staff, which, I don’t see why, then go get a Penn State guy.”

Really? He doesn't see why they can't hire someone from the current staff? Unreal.

Good stuff Xerxes

You had any respect for Penn State to begin with? They have always been entitled a-holes. If they talked to everybody they would still not be done. Where does Dozier think they can draw the line at consulting former players? Only All Americans? Only NFLers?

It's funny that Short said they may as well be in the SEC. Why not....apparently he is ok with cronyism.

Then you have Arrington spouting off about values that he learned at PSU and taught to his kids. They can't be very good values if all he learned is to take his ball and go home if he gets his feelings hurt. What happened to supporting the school and players who have nothing to do with this decision?

As the above posters have said, PSU players and fans JUST DON'T GET IT. Six months ago, most former players would probably never have believe that Sandusky could have been guilty of what he is accused of, but they are still positively sure none of the current coaches knew anything about what was going on. Stay classy Penn State.

I don't know a whole lot about O'Brien, but I saw the presser and I thought he was pretty impressive.
