Looks like the '12 class could shape up to be a GREAT one!

Here's a scenario that I don't believe is too outlandish to consider:

- Already have 8 commits. That gives us around 12 remaining "open" ships.

- We land 2-4 more guys from the greater Chi-town area. Likely candidates include: Coleman, Gregory, Diamond, Ekakatie

- We land roughly aorund 2 guys out of Michigan. I'd guess that we'd land 2 guys out of the pool of Taylor, Payne, Lile, and Watkins.

- We land 1 more DT out of the group: Ekakatie, O'Brien

- We land Kozan, assuming that tOSU doesn't offer (or that they don't offer until too late)

- We land Lohn

- We land Darboh ... of course, that hinges somewhat on Keenan Davis having something of a breakout JR season.

- We land McDonald or Morgan

- We land 1 O-lineman out of the group of Diamond, Shoff, Lutui, and Butler

- We land Quanzell Lambert (the pull of Coach Wilson and his buddy Quinton Alston possibly pushing things to favor us)

- We land Garmon (with hype surrounding the dominance of our OL being a driving factor influencing his decision)

Obviously, nothing here is written in stone ... but if even part of the projections end up working out ... it will still be an awfully great recruiting haul.

So on all of your predictions what are your percentages on each player. I did this a while ago but can't remember where. Also do you think TE Johnson going somewhere else is a forgone conclusion (I kinda do)

you are pretty optimistic. I doubt we get even half of those names you listed.

Well he didn't say we'd get them all. He listed several different pools of recruits, of which we'd maybe get half in each pool.

I would just be ecstatic if we landed Garmon & Severin. Those are two elite type athletes. Those are the caliber of kids that can really take a season to the next level IMO. We've missed on kids like that in the past, but we are in the top five for both. Garmon we may even be top 3 for. Really hope the coaches can close on those two.

With regard to the OL recruiting - I'd be jacked as hell if we get two of Diamond, Shoff, Lutui & Kozan. Ideally we'd grab one of Diamond/Kozan & one of Shoff/Lutui - as that would mean we got one Tackle & one Guard. Though I would love taking all four as well :D.

I do feel like we're sitting good with Quanzell Lambert, and that has me VERY excited. If he commits, he'll be one of my favorite kids in the 2012 class...I think he's going to be a REALLY good one.

I'm really hoping we get one more high profile DT - that is a position where I feel we are a little thin.

I think Robert Gregory is an interesting prospect at QB too...I'm hopeful we can land him as well.

I'd love for Iowa to land Garmon. We might possibly have a shot there.

As for guys like Severin and Golden ... both guys who I like a lot. I'm not as hopeful about our chances there. I definitely hope I'm wrong there ... particularly seeing that I'd love for both guys to end up Hawks.

Signing Darboh will have nothing to do with Keenan Davis.

Maybe not ... but if I were in Darboh's position, I'd be all the more impressed if an in-state WR had a lot of success at one of the top schools I was considering.

However, you're probably right ... our chances are possibly pretty iffy at this juncture.

I agree about Garmon. I think the staff feels real good about him, otherwise I think David Smith would have an offer. I can see something like this shaking out

QB (1) - I don't think we get Gregory. I hope we do, think he'd be very popular in IC, but I don't see him here. I can see us taking one though, maybe a late offer to someone like Kyle Brown, Hayden Northern, or Ryan West to name a few.

RB (2) - Garmon, Malloy. I think Malloy was recruited as a project, but I figure him as a RB here, and I think we get Garmon. Coleman ends up in Bloomington I think. I also think they talk Burnside into walking on, or if no Garmon, maybe a signing day scholly for him.

WR (3) - Wilson, Ruben Lile, possibly one of either Ian Thomas or Austin Aikens (both look good and what Soup is looking for in a WR), or someone late we haven't seen an offer too, like Darius Merriweather, Jordan Woods, or Danny Dorsey. I obviously put Lile at receiver cause he sounds like a guy who wants to stay on the offensive side of the ball. Severin and Golden stay out east I think. Darboh follows in French's footsteps and fakes for the Hawk hat and goes for an Irish one.

No TE

OL (4) - Keppy, Ward, Kozan, and a new offer guy. I can see someone like Johnny Caspers or Robbie Bain getting offers if Diamond goes elsewhere (which I see happening). I also think Shoff is to the point that if he doesn't get a NU offer, I think he would rather walk-on there then go elsewhere.

DL (4) - Johnson, Ott, Lohn, and a late bloomer. Just feel good about Lohn. Call it wishful thinking if you want. I'd call Aaron Curry a long shot, but possible, but I think he stay somewhere in the Big 12. Trace Clark is a maybe but I see him at KSU. Faith and Valentine don't seem too impressed, so I'll go with someone like Prentiss Brooks, Julian Turner, or maybe even Joe Carber late.

LB (2) - Taylor and someone new. I'd love to put Lambert on here and I think we give him a good run, I just don't see it happening. He is my most hopeful recruit and I really hope he signs. I really like a handful of guys, all of which are prolly long shots. Nate Ricketts, Mason Monheim, Chase Murdock, or Will McNamara to name a few, none of which have offers. Ultimately, with all the LB's they took last year, I see Nate Shaw at Iowa, maybe with a scholly, and Atwater walking on.

DB (4) - Fleming, Rodney Edmiston, Tevin Shaw, and a midseason offer. I really think this ends up being Charles Rogers, as he should get an offer early in the season and stays in town. I hope for this as well as I think he is a great talent. If not, Brandon Watkins might take up the offer or maybe Kilfoy could earn a scholly or walk-on.

P- Kornbrath, thats it.

That makes 21 total scholarships, with a couple possible walk-on candidates as well.

I will emphasize that I have NO inside info or links for any of these, just mostly wishful thinking and personal preference from a guy who loves to follow recruiting. Recruiting is so unpredictable, one just never knows.

I would be shocked if KF took a chance with another Bain.

New to the board guys figured i'd get involved. As for severin i tweeted bob litchenfels of rivals.com about a story he wrote on severin and where he might go. Here was his reply : @Sam_Jordt I can see PSU/Iowa based on our convo, have heard BC is in good standing. He has a lot of upside, very coachable kid.

I haven't heard much about Ekakatie. All I knew was that Fleming was going to set his sights on trying to help us land Diamond, Ward, and Ekakatie. However, just because another Chi-town guys is trying to reel him over to Iowa doesn't mean that Ekakatie reciprocates the interest.

Anyhow, if he really doesn't sound very impressed with Iowa ... then that is a bummer. So it goes sometimes though ...

I've been hoping for diamond all along. I really like where they are going in this class as well. speed and athletic ablility like the OP's said
