Looking more like an epic match-up with the Fraud if we get by the Zags

If we could upset Gonzaga to put the country on notice, and then follow that up by sending the fighting Alford's packing that would pretty much be amazing.

I am not sure we can beat the zags on their home floor but if the basketball gods can throw us one bone it would be much appreciated. Can you imagine the state of Iowa if we get a match up in the sweet 16 with ALFRAUD whose son probably started his early years cheering for us. Wow!

I'm confused. How exactly is Alford a fraud? He has now taken for teams to the NCAA. Three to the Sweet 16. He has also made it to the NCAA tournament almost every year since he left Iowa.

One of his nicknames is "Alfraud" and he is known for this for albeit killing the Iowa program. Lackluster burried it. Fran has resurrected it.

Because he is a dirtball.

If Iowa were to get through Gonzaga, it would be an Iowa fan wet dream. Game would be in Houston right? What kind of fan base do the Hawks have down there.

You might not like his personality, but he's certainly no fraud. He's a pretty darn good coach, he reeled in the top recruiting class at Iowa in 25 yrs, he won the big ten tourney with Iowa, and I hate to break it to you, but he didn't rape anyone. His star player did.

In 9 years, he got us to the tournament a total of 3 times and won a total of ONE tourney game.

Oh, and he coddled and defended a rapist.

Yeah...he's a fraud...among other things...

After all these years, how are there still jock sniffing Alford apologists on this board? I just don't get it.

This is pretty damn debatable. For all those great recruiting class rankings, he won a whopping ONE NCAA tournament game at Iowa (a program that, at that point, was all but a guarantee to win at least one game in the dance every year). In eight years. He was incredibly lucky to get out of the first round this week, then he got matched up against one of the worst teams in the tournament that managed to pull an upset. More than a few UCLA fans aren't happy about reaching the Sweet Sixteen this year under these circumstances, because they know it's fool's gold that might keep Alford in Westwood for another couple years.

So he made the Sweet Sixteen last year; that team grossly underachieved. He had three first round draft picks in his starting lineup and couldn't do better than a 4-seed?

As for the Pierce situation? He didn't have to rape that girl to come out looking like a slimeball. His actions after the crime were more than enough to denounce his character.
