Lomax

It was a shame he got burned on that critical third down as he played as good a game as he has all year. Came down hard in the run game...and hit people all over the field. JL played better, but against speed backs, he just doesn't take great angles. On the McEvoy touchdown he was late getting their and was way to shallow. I didn't get how he got that low to the point he's running horizontal to get to him.

Kudos? These 2 safeties take the worst angles of any I have ever seen, constantly out of position and deficient in coverage. I can't ever remember an Iowa defense that has given up so many big plays.

He didn't slow down Gordon on the third down pass late in the game. Lomax rushed the line, got his hands on Gordon a little bit, but let him slip through and lost him by about 7 yards. Horrible play by Lomax.

At Maryland, Lomax got sucked into the scrum at the scrimmage and the Maryland running back bounced off the herd and ran for a 30 yard TD. All on Lomax. He is not consistent.

Lomax played bad for a lot of the game. He consistently got matched up on Gordon in pass coverage and gordon got 64 yds. He and spearman were the ones who got beat by gordon for the 88 yd run. Spearman got out of position and Lomax was flat footed and didn't move until Gordon was past him. I think Lomax could be good but I think he is still learning the position and it shows our lack in confidence of some of our young safeties that we moved a cb who got beat out by younger better cbs. I think gair has some upside but we will see next yr if gair wins a spot or if Lomax keeps it.
