Here's mine:

1. Good or great recruiter
2. Able to bring in top flight assistants
3. Has "street cred".
4. Strong B-ball background.
5. Known outside of Iowa or Outside of what ever mid major school they currently work at.
6. x's and O's.

Iowa basketball needs someone who could immediatly make a recruiting impact. Lick was a system guy that couldn't bring in the talent to compete in the Big Ten.

Hire BJ Armstrong now!

1. Wants the job
2. Good recruiter
3. Married
4. In his 50's or 60's
5. Hot, single daughters in their late 20's to mid 30's
6....

Crap, I got off course...what was the question again???

Commanding a level of respect in an urban environment due to experience in or knowledge of issues affecting those environments-

Related to recruiting. Why did BJ Armstrong, Roy Marble and Ed Horton come to Iowa. Or, would they have come to Iowa for Mr. Davis, Alford or Lickliter? That's a big NO. Now John will delete this post but to me it comes down to hiring an african-american coach.

How many African-American coaches were in the Elite Eight this year? or previous years for that matter?

How did BJ Armstrong ever get the rep from hawk fans that he is in any way shape or form a great recruiter? Look at all the Forbes threads, its not about being a name. It's about being a salesman. Building relationships over YEARS with coaches, families, organizations and players. BJ is a solid guy and I'm sure he could develop the skills to be a great recruiter but what does he have right now?

seriously????? having 'street cred' as a requirement and having someone then define it is ridiculous..................how many players of color are on the floor for Baylor and what is the race of their coach? Boy Drew must have a butt load of street cred as I'm sure that's the only reason those players came to Baylor. My point is players will come play for a coach and/or school regardless of the coachs' skin color if the coach can sell the program and system.

Yeah, if we had hired BJ I would have had the outrage that a lot of this board has had today. What's sad is I don't know if BJ would have created as much outrage as McCaffery has.

Somebody needs to get him started on that Class of 2012. That 16 and under Martin Brothers team is loaded with D1 talent. They were impressive this weekend, they will be in Ames in 2 weeks. They are fun to watch.
