2011 Returning Starters!

Not sure I follow Steele. He says Iowa 5 on O 4 on D

Here is what I have

Offense 6

Coker
McNutt
Ferentz
Reiff
Zusevics
one of Gettis/McMillan

Defense 5

Daniels
Nielsen
Morris
Prater
Hyde

Binns was also a starter for many games.

I'd guess he's not counting Coker because Robinson was the main guy all year and maybe 1 of Nielsen/Morris?

Yeah, he's probably comparing the projected starters next year to the starters of game 1 this year. Regardless lots of turnover.

Here are players with starting experience that return for Iowa in 2011

QB: Vandenberg
RB: Coker
FB: Rogers
OL: Ferentz, Zusevics, Reiff, McMillan, Gettis
WR: McNutt, Davis

That's 10 of likely 11 in starting lineup

Defense:

DL: Binns, Daniels
LB: Morris, Nielsen (did Dibona start?)
DB: Prater, Hyde

That's six

Yes I believed he did start maybe the Indiana game? Also if we are going previous starting experience you may throw in Bernstine at S even though he technically has never started there.

Hmmm....just looked and Iowa listed both Brad Herman and Allen Reisner as starters for that game.

So swap Herman for Davis, get the same number ;)

WR reps start stats are kind of weird, but Davis did see the field a lot this season. Also Herman should be listed as a returning start with as many snaps as he had this season. Rogers and Vandenberg are stretches as they have 1 and 3 games with significant PT. However Iowa does return a lot of snaps at o-line, TE, RB, DL, LB, and CB- the obvious experience weak points are WR, P, and S. Of those positions of weakness safety is obviously the most glaring as Sash and Greenwood have started a ton of games over a three year period for some of Iowa's best statistical defense.

I'm picking nits...Davis might not have starting experience, but he's got a decent amount of GAME experience, which will serve him well. Behind him, however.... in the experience dept.
