Nick Niemann was injured on the final play against Wisconsin, Kirk Ferentz said on today's Big Ten coaches teleconference. Niemann is expected to miss a few weeks. Barrington Wade, who the coaches were high on in camp, is next on the depth chart.

Was it a pulled hamstring? Happened right in front of me and he pulled up like that was what it was. Was shocked I hadn't heard anything since then about it. Looked pretty bad.

Yeah, he definitely pulled up. That's often a hamstring.

I read an unconfirmed report it's a PCL, 3-4 weeks.

Damn. Good thing one of those weeks is a bye. What about the possibility of sliding Colbert over to OLB? He seems to have the athleticism, although it would be nice to see Wade step up as well.

I think it would be more likely Welch moves to LEO. He played it early in his career here and I think Colbert is better suited for WIL. But I could see it being Welch, Hockaday and Colbert if that looks like the best trio in practice the next two weeks.
