Likely, Joe Paterno's Last Game at Kinnick

As a fan of college football and the Big Ten you find people that earn your respect. Joe Paterno is one of those people for me. There has been a lot of great coaches on both sidelines of Kinnick stadium and Joe Pa is among the greatest and a lot more likable than Bo or Woody. It is obvious he has aged dramatically in the last six months and it won't be a surprise he retires after this season.

The PSU vs IA game is listed as the "spirit" game and it would be an appropriate time to recognize his achievements in some manner while the opportunity is available. I hope the athletic department can organize a little tribute for that game.

While I agree with the sentiment, wouldn't it be a bit presumptuous to assume this is his last game at Kinnick. It most likely could be, but I don't think it would be appropriate to have a "going away party" based on speculation that this may be his last year.

When I went to the PSU game at Kinnick in 2003, I thought that would be the last time. I thought the same thing in 2008. It seems likely that 10/2/10 would be his last time, but I will plan on him returning in a few years.

I think you can honor someone without making it a retirement party.

Martin Scorsese won a lifetime acheivement award at the Oscars last year. He's not retiring anytime soon.

Plus they're both still making funny commercials.
