As I just mentioned in another thread we are a crappy game from Uthoff away from losing to just about anybody. So a 4-3 finish, while disappointing, could happen. Maryland OTOH, while talented, just isn't as good of a team that their record reflects and as bad as Iowa played at Maryland we still almost pulled it out. Maryland is capable of losing to anyone on their schedule except maybe Minnesota.

Ask me after tonight about Indiana. I still see them as a Yogi Ferrell or bust type of team.

Iowa ends the season at Michigan. Maryland ends the season at Indiana.

I can't envision any scenario where Iowa loses 3 more games...barring injury. There is nothing in their last 11 conference games to remotely suggest we will finish 4-3...with our remaining schedule.

Iowa fans would be furious if anyone suggested Uthoff doesn't deserve serious consideration for 1st Team All American. Players of that caliber...with 8 quality players around them...don't lose 3 games out of 7 that they should win.

Iowa fans would be extremely upset if the projected brackets had us as a 3 seed playing somewhere other than Des Moines. But that's most likely what will happen if Iowa goes 4-3 in these last 7 games. This requires at least 1 bad loss and really 2. Tonight's game is the only one I realistically think we could play well in and still lose.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Unless someone gets injured we will have to take a big step backward to finish less than 16-2. And I firmly believe that 16-2 wins an outright Big 10 championship.

Wow, you are optimistic, and I give you credit for that.

Would have to be the AWESOME Iowa team showing up every game for that to happen and finish 16-2.

Can only lose 1 more game, I would say if we lose tonight, that is a VERY tall task. If we pull off the W tonight, then I would say it's looking very likely.

Win tonight, and we can drop 1 at Mich or at IND and still keep your pace.

SO, I guess I am saying, if we win tonight, I agree with you 16-2.

Lose tonight? No way we end 16-2.

If the AWESOME iowa team shows up every game, we finish 17-1.

One concern is Iowa plays @OSU on a sunday and then turns around and plays Indiana on a Tuesday. So they play Sunday, get home that night, have probably a walkaround on monday and then play Tuesday at 8pm. 2 games in about 53 hours.

Its not bad prep for the NCAA tournament I guess, but its a very quick turnaround for 2 challenging games.

They are the best conditioned team in the Big so maybe a little fatigue at first, but hell after tonight's a $$ whoopin, Indiana will not wanna come to Carver

Because I think it's going to be either us or one of them that wins the B1G.

Turtles 10-2

Wisky W
@ MN W
MICH W
@ PUR L
ILL W
@ IU L 14-4

Problem is, I don't think they lose both those games, I think they only lose 1 finishing 15-3

Hawks 10-1

@ IU L
MN W
@ PSU W
WISKY W
@ OSU L
IND W
@ MICH L

14-4

Good news is that is pretty much the worse case scenario. Can't get upset at PSU obviously. Just win 1 other road game and we are looking GOOD!

IU 9-2

IOWA W
@MSU L
DEBBIE W
PURDUE W
@ ILL W
@ IOWA L
MARYLAND W

14-4

I see a 3 way tie? Everyone controls there own destiny. Iowa has the tougher road schedule and and extra road game in general.

I just don't know....

That last Sunday regular season game Iowa Vs Indiana is gonna be H U G E, might just decide the whole thing.

Who's gonna win it? Thoughts?

Do find it a bit funny Indiana is not ranked. MSU could be 3-8 in conference and they would still have a number by their name.

Maryland: i think Maryland has the toughest road schedule. I agree 14-4 finish.

Iowa: I don't see Iowa losing at Ohio State. Furthermore you state Iowa has hardest road schedule. Really? Did you gloss over Maryland's road slate? That's the toughest IMO. Iowa win tonight is think 15-3. Even with loss I could see 15-3 and I think worst case scenario is 14-4 with a hiccup game.

Indiana: If they lose tonight IMO they can be elimated from title conversation. However that said I think they have the lowest of chances to win the BIG, because even with win tonight I would be surprised if they only lost 2 games. That schedule isn't easy. Indiana win tonight I see 13-5 finish a loss tonight I will say 12-6.

Well, add one more win for IU and one more loss for us.

Tonight was the chance for us to win the B1G outright.

Ain't gonna happen now most likely.

We had that game too once we came back.

Got Geselle'd

I think we may have peaked already. We have not played a top notch game since before Maryland. This was a tough spot tonight but we left a lot of little details out there. Early in the B1G season we were much sharper.

Indiana loses at Michigan State and Iowa. Maryland loses at Purdue and Indiana. Iowa only loses at Michigan. KA-CHING!! TITLE!!

Peaked implies we won't play another great game but we have felt off since the Maryland game. Of course in those games where we were off we have handily dominated a hand full of teams. I just want another game where we get hot from three. Was really hoping it would come tonight.

We will probably run the table and Maryland will too. That sounds like something that would happen to Iowa. Finish 16-2 and only tie for 1st.

Too revisit this, the bad news Iowa lost last night and flat out got beat. Indiana outplayed Iowa, appeared to have wanted it more as they played with an intensity that Iowa could not match, so my hats off to them.

The good news is Iowa has 6 winnable games remaining on their schedule and are 10-2 after playing the toughest part of their schedule. I don't see either Maryland or Indiana winning out so Iowa is still in great shape to win the Big Ten regular season title.

The schedule isn't doing us any favors though, after a tough loss Iowa is going to be out for some payback and up next is one of the worst teams in the conference, Minnesota.

If anyone thought we were going to go 17-1, then that person is almost delusional. We were a 3 pt. dog and lost to a team that's undefeated in their gym.

It's always good to wait a few hours before posting to get a perspective and not post nonsensical stuff.

I've made that mistake myself before.

I'm still saying 16-2 and an outright championship. Indiana's crowd won't be traveling to Carver or Breslin. But they will be there when they host Maryland on Yogi Ferrell (Senior) Night. And Maryland still has the probable loss at Purdue. My prediction going into the last weekend of the season.

Iowa 15-2 (at Michigan)
Maryland 14-3 (at Indiana)
Indiana 13-4 (hosting Maryland)

With this scenario...If Iowa wins they clinch the outright title. If Maryland loses we clinch the outright title. Win or lose we have clinched a share of the conference title. This is a dream scenario.

I would have been more than willing to sign up for this result in blood going into the opener against Michigan State. The majority of us hoped to get through the first 8 games at 4-4.

With your scenario, I win our bet that those 2 games decide who wins the conference. :)

Why not? They did pretty well against Iowa tonight. I highly doubt they're intimidated.
