"The Times-PicayuneReports state Les Miles will remain coach of the LSU Tigers."

Hmmm. Interesting times for Michigan. I think the same thing happened to them when it hired Rich Rod.

A good buddy of mine is a die-hard Michigan fan in Ann Arbor. He says fans are very upset with how this is all playing out. Stating the obvious, he said everyone wanted Harbaugh ... and that Les was a very distant second on the want list. He said he may "take a break" from Michigan football for a bit.

Obviously this will be an important hire for Michigan. I think the Wolverines are finding the job is not what it once was (i.e. mid 1990s and before).

The Michigan job is going to be a really tough one. You're expected to win every year and not just win in the sense of having a winning record, you're supposed to win it all. This with the fact that you have to play ascending teams like Michigan State, Iowa Ohio State, Notre Dame and Nebraska every year, in addition to occasionally playing tough teams from the other division. All these teams will have a head start on whomever gets the coaching job at Michigan.

I know there are a lot of advantages at Michigan and they can be great again, but good luck to that coach in getting there as fast as fans want.

Everyone look, it's the Michigan football program!

I still maintain RichRod wasn't given enough time. While he didn't inherit a bare cupboard, he WAS implementing a new Offense, thus, couldn't/didn't concentrate enough on Defense. All the same, he obviously had the Offense making great strides. It simply takes longer to do that than to continue in the same base systems.

This could absolutely UNs recruiting. First, RichRod recruits are probably ALREADY "looking". Without a coach, and two whiffs now? Good luck.

May it continue!

The backstory on the Harbaugh to UM deal was as follows....Brandon reached out to Harbaugh in early December to gauge his interest. Harbaugh was supposedly very interested and told Brandon he would accept the job if offered. Obviously Harbaugh wasn't going to bail on Stanford and UM wanted to save the 1.5 million by axing RR after Jan. 1st. The only hold up for Harbaugh was leaving his kids from his 1st marriage who are on the West Coast. What I think threw a wrench into Harbaugh to UM was the fact that the 49ers offered the best of both worlds, more money and better location so he spurned UM for SF. That's the supposed story, take it FWIW.
