Maybe it really did take Kirk's kid to loosen the old man up...

Biggest disappointment for me is the Ferentzed offense. I like that we use Pro sets at Iowa, and think we should continue, especially with the O line players we can recruit here (usually our most talented group). Yet we need to update it, and have more multiple sets, and be more aggressive. I really wish that GD would step down, and have Brian Ferentz step in. I only say this because being his son, I think Brian would stand up to Kirk and run what he wanted to. I mean at a certain point GD really has to do what his boss says. I think Brian would be trying to make his mark, auditioning for future HC jobs, and would say, thanks for the input Kirk, but you hired me to do a job, now let me do it. I think this is the only way the offense changes at Iowa under KF.
I really think that Iowa needs to get rid of GD, and have Brian step in if we really want to see the changes to the offense that would make Iowa more aggressive on that side of the ball. I know it isn't going to happen, but I don't see any other way that anything changes for Iowa's offense.
I really wish GD would hang it up. Not so much that I think GD is terrible, he is doing the best he can with the hand he is dealt. What we need is Brian to come in, so he can tell his dad to butt out of the offense, and just let him run it. The offense will never change under KF any other way.
I figured. What I don't get is why not now? It isn't like GD is the long term answer at OC, never was. It seems the plan was always to bridge from GD to Brian, the sooner the better. Find out if it is gonna work, or not, why delay the inevitable?
If anything hopefully the offer from BOB moves up the timeline for this, and it happens now or next year at the latest.
What does that say about Kirk?Someone has been calling for Brian to get the OC job for a long time, as that is the only way the old man would loosen up the offense. These were all posts in Dec. of 2013 and Jan of 2014.

In regards to Brian's future, I hope he stays "balls to the wall" if/after he gets the head gig.
