Last Ten Minutes

How many times in the last few years have we seen the Hawks fade down the stretch in close games? Blown leads, shots won't fall, missed crucial free throws, defense slips, turnovers pick up, or whatever other problems may arise always happen.

The last ten minutes tonight? 20-10 in favor of Iowa, 2 turnovers, 10/13 free throws, 17-8 rebounding advantage. Go Hawks!

About time the worm turned. There is something about Iowa and playing Roy Williams. Beat him at Kansas and now beat him at North Carolina. Karma for pouching our players.

Well it was good to see finishing off a game for a change. Especially against a team like NC.

Color me skeptical until I see it a couple of more times before I say there's hope at then end of close games.

They still went ice cold in the second half for a long stretch which seems to be their thing, but they shot lights out from the free throw line which kept them in it.

Gesell tried everything he could to miss that late free throw but the bounce just wouldn't let him :)

In this game what stood out to me was that in the last 10 min and really throughout the game the hawks played great on the ball defense. It was one of the best defensive efforts I have seen on a Fran coached Iowa team.

Very encouraging!

That is exactly what it takes to finish games. Well done, Hawks!
