Last 5 bowls - common thread

Main common thread is our opponents, OU, LSU, Tenn, Stanford, FL, are faster and more athletic. Probably more skilled football players all around also but Iowa has skilled players they just are not fast enough or athletic enough 22 on 22. The hawks are as strong but not as deep.

First qtr when Florida was running up the middle the hawk's strength won out and Fl couldnt really run it. Mid to late 2nd qtr and the second half Floridas offense played outside where they had space and speed and it showed.

Listen, the hawks had two really good drives through 25 minutes of the game and they needed to score TDs. Dont give up that 85 yard swing pass td right before the half and the Hawks could have led by 10-3 at halftime.

This game should have been closer but again not imagination on offense so Davis needs to go.

So once again the hawks need more speed, just a little faster players which will help.

You need a scheme that puts these players into space. I know Jon has said it many times on his podcasts, but how often do we run out of a 3 WR set? It has to be <20% of the time, probably closer to <10%

No amount of speed will help if the other team knows what you're doing, and is smart enough to dictate your play by disguising the defense in baiting the QB to audible to "run, short side field"

Last year we had a QB who made almost every single 3rd down conversion, either with his legs, or passing. Mostly his legs. How many times did CJ scramble this year? Very few.

We had a legit running attack, but other than a couple games, it always felt painful to watch.

Wadley saved this team, and the season from being one of the worst in the KF era. He won us many games this year all by himself.

And yet KF continues to bag on his weight, no awards, know real acknowledgement. Probably because Wadley may have a personality that doesn't mesh with the Head Coach.

The other common thread is our recruiting sucks.

The inabilty to recruit players with decent speed that line up on the outside for offense is killing this program right now. Defense actually played decent considering how pathetic our time of possession was against Florida. A great defense always gets gassed if the offense doesn't pull their weight.

Why dont we get into Texas and find speed. Surely some small schools down there have kids that are overlooked but fast.
Mizzou is starting to do this.

But what speed wants to come here? There is no one here that knows what to do with speed.

This has become so frustrating.
