Larry Brown Wanted the Penn St Job

If PSU was a basketball power I could understand passing on Brown for a coach who has coached the college game more recently. But they aren't, and I'm guessing HOF coaches aren't beating down their door, nor are coaches who have won a NC.

Even if you got 2 years out of him that would have been a great hire. Worse thing he would do is put butts in seats, home and on the road. He probably would have offered legitimacy down the road when he left. Again if I'm PSU I would only bring him in if he can bring his successor with him.

Larry Brown could flat out coach! His problem was dealing with over paid players, management and owners. He would have been a real plus for PSU. He's got to be getting ready to retire one of these days though.

Larry Brown's biggest problem is that he is a huge @sshole. I am pretty sure he left UCLA and KU on sanctions as well.

He got popped for playing 2 ineligible players while at UCLA during the 1979-80 season, becoming the first Final 4 team to ever have its record vacated and after winning the '88 title with Danny Manning, KU became the only team to ever be banned from defending their title the following season due to recruiting violations...it's amazing how "great" coaches like Brown and Tark are, when they don't play by the rules...yep, I'm looking at you, Calipari...
