Lakers/Suns

Suns looking much better. Not sure they will beat the Lakers though. I don't think Kobe will let this series go. Home court seems to be huge for both teams. Thoughts?

Suns are looking solid. Interesting to see if they will continue to play in LA. I thought after Amare spouted off that this series was over. I'm pulling for Suns, but still don't think they will do it. Never thought the series would be tied 2-2.

Phoenix has done a nice job of forcing guys other than Kobe and Gasol to beat them down the stretch.

I only caught the end of the game. Did the Suns use the zone against the Lakers again? It worked well in game 3. Goran must have been big and it looks like Frye hit at least one shot.

The difference in the game was the bench play. The Suns bench outscored the Lakers bench 54-20 (I think that was final damage). Kobe was phenomenal, again. Every other Laker was awful. Gasol looked "soft" for the first time in a long time. Odom and Artest were pathetic. Brown and Farmar are not good enough to play in the Suns rotation. Kobe has to get help back in LA, and I think he will. Many of the guys I just listed play much better at home. As a Laker fan, I miss the heck out of Trevor Ariza right now. He makes the shots that Artest seems to consistently miss. And he defends better than Artest. I was not a fan of the "trade" last summer because it slows the Lakers down so much. Anyhow, I am done venting...

Yeah, the Suns used the zone for much of the game. I'm surprised the Lakers have not yet adjusted to it. They started off attacking it pretty well tonight, but they were lacking the patience and discipline to make the extra passes against the zone for 48 minutes.

Thanks for the update. I know you are a big Kobe fan. I'm sure the Lakers will make the finals. When a bench scores 54 it is hard to win. I really thought Gasol would have a big game tonight. Did the Suns play much zone? I just heard 51-36 rebounding for the Suns. That hurts.

Sorry. Didn't see your post. Thanks.

Yes, they played the hell out of that zone, again. And again, the Lakers got open looks and couldn't knock them down. When you take Kobe's 3s out of the stats, the rest of the team shot 3-for-19 from behind the arc. And they were open looks. The thing that kills the Lakers more than most teams when facing a zone is the lack of a true PG. I love Fisher, but he is not a true point. True PGs can attack the gaps of a zone, and really break it down. The other big weakness on the Lakers is their lack of outside shooters. That is where they miss Vujacic. He just came back from a bad ankle injury, and I really wish Phil would play him. But he has ten rings. I have zero wins. LOL

Suns bench hit nine 3s tonight too. Wow. Lastly, and I am not blaming officiating, the Suns were plus 19 at the FT line tonight, and plus 22 in Game 3. That is Plus 41 in two 9 point wins.

Is that a realistic possibility? He is one of the best in the league.

He is a free agent. It just depends on what they want to spend $ on. Point guard will be the biggest need. I wouldn't mind getting Steve Blake for cheap and then try to get Korver. Mike Miller would be nice, but that could cost the full MLE.

Lakers are just fine Suns will not win in LA.

Thanks man! Hope you are right. I start getting nervous in about Game 5 (of a series). Especially when it is a 2-2 series! Anything can happen. As I told another friend tonight, as long as the Lakers protect home court, they will win the series. I am afraid we are headed for a Game 7 though, and that makes me way nervous!

I lived 13 years in LA, big Lakers fan. They don't call Kobe the Black Mamba for nothing best closer in the game. Now Lakers /Celtics thats a tough series; but to me Phoenix just doesn't have that guy yet that can close out a series. Maybe this is Nash or Amare's year to proof that theory wrong but I doubt it.

Nice! That is awesome! I have been to LA twice, and caught a Laker game at Staples once. Kobe is still the best in the world at what he does. I am truly amazed at how easy he makes everything look. GO LAKERS!!!

It was about time Channing Frye started knocking down some shots. The Lakers can't play Bynum when Frye is shooting well. It's still going to be tough for the Suns to pull this series it out, but if they get hot for one game in LA, they could do it.
