beat Purdue 63-55! Didn't get to attend but listened to it on the radio. Tania Davis stole the ball passed it behind her back to Whitney Jennings for a lay up!!! Tania is going to be a very very good player for Iowa! I can't wait for next year to see how this young tean progresses. Way to go Hawks!!!!!

Iowa never made a 3 pointer the whole game! Wonder when the last time that ever happened? Megan and Chase are going to be a force to be reckoned with!

Megan Gustafson 18 points 7 rebounds and 4 blocks

Chase Coley 14 points 7 rebounds and 1 block

Ally Disterhoft 12 points

Tania Davis 12 points

Keep it up Hawks! Indiana sunday at 2:00. I'll be there!

The Hawks did what they've had trouble doing all year. They rallied to take the lead and used defense to close it out. Megan Gustafson sparked the rally. They didn't make many shots and missed to many FT's, but cranked up the defense. Coach is getting through to them. Let's win out and hope for the best. Congratulations.

Everyone go to the game Sunday. $2 off ticket price for wearing pink, first 1000 get a free shirt. I will be there!

They were 17 of 23 FT's. 21TO's is a killer but they had 36 points in the paint compared to 22 for purdue. Glad they didn't cave when the Hawks lost the 10 point lead. Hope they do win out and I'm going to get one of those free T's. Hawk fans come support these Lady Hawks and don't sit on your hands. Clap and holler and get with it! I'm sure the Lady Hawks will respond! Go Hawks!

Overall that's 74% and good, but in the last 2 and a half minutes they were 6 for 10 and made only 1 of 4 at the end. That's usually asking for trouble. This team is not playing with much confidence and I think they were nervous at the end. Tania Davis though has been deadly from the FT line (she was 4/4 at the end) in the last few close games. I agree a big loud supportive crowd will help with confidence issues. It has been encouraging to see the growth of Megan and Chase these last few games. I really hope they get a post season invite it will do wonders for them next year. It will be interesting to see who steps up in next year's class the way Davis and Gustafson have this year. Any predictions from Meyer, Ollinger, Cera, and Sevillian?

Next year is all upside for this program. Kali Peschel is the only graduation from the primary rotation. Carley Mohns will be back from injury at her position. Depth at forward will be bolstered by Amanda Ollinger from Linn Mar. The other freshmen who I think will have the biggest impact will be Mackenzie Meyer from Mason City. She will add another great ball handler and shooter to the backcourt.

It's just going to keep getting better and better. It would be huge for this team to make the post season tourney. This years freshman class has stepped up and I'm looking forward to Ollinger to be the next freshman to keep it going. The Hawks are going to have depth at every position and I see a sweet sixteen possibility ( brewing LOL ) for 2018? The BIG is improving overall but I think we are keeping pace with recruiting. Maryland and Ohio St. are still going to be the ones to beat. Does anybody have anything on the 17 class?

No commits yet for '17.

They have a verbal from Jinaya Houston a 6' 1" forward from Davenport. The 2016 group has looked good except Bre Cera who has been out with a broken finger. Sevillian has scored more than 25 in every game except one. She's from Tania Davis' school and her sister plays at Penn St. (believe the sister is injured now). Makenzie Meyer looks like a really promising shooter who can also drive to the basket. Haven't seen anything from Houston and don't know much about Ollinger.

Awesome recruiting work being done!

That is a fact. Iowa starts 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores and 1 junior. This is a team that is going to have to reckoned with for years to come. Good recruiting class(es) coming in. Iowa is very athletic - just very young. I saw them play Michigan State tough and, I'll tell you, this team is FUN to watch. Very well coached. The future of Iowa women's basketball is very bright!

Hagarwood thanks for posting. I checked out Jinaya Houston and she is battling a back injury. Hope she recovers from that. Liked what I saw from her and would be a good addition for the Lady Hawks.

Can anybody give us a scouting report on Amanda Ollinger? The other incoming freshmen seem to be outside shooters. Especially Makenzie Meyer who has been over 40% since she was a 9th grader.

I also think that this team has nothing but upside going forward. Bluder coached teams do well when they play sound team basketball, so it takes awhile to get young players to that point (Logic not-withstanding). The other issue I have always thought would be a problem this year is leadership- that ability to take the team on your shoulders and will them to victory. I like all the players, but I think the person to take over Logic's leadership role hasn't emerged. I am not blaming or dismissing current player; The chemistry just hasn't happened this year. Disterhoft certainly is there with her play and determination, but doesn't force her will on the team. Early on, Peschel worked hard to be that player (you could see it in the huddle), but she isn't getting the minutes. Till might have been that player, but she never had the chance. Next year? Gustafson is looking like a Morgan Johnson style enthusiatic/pump them up player. Davis certainly has a spark. I think that out of those two, the leader will emerge who will drive the ship for the next three years. Go Hawks!

From what I've read she is strong agile faceup - 4. Competes on both ends of the floor. Steps out to the arc, creates, attacks and finishes in traffic. Active on the glass. High energy. Superb in uptempo. She's a 4*. Recruited by Stanford, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, Oklahoma and the clowns. Haven't found anything yet on her senior season at Linn-Mar.
