I was kind of surprised the Lady Hawks lost this game and are going to have a tuff game Sunday in Carver. I'll be there to root the Hawks on against Maryland. Tip off is at 2:00. I'm looking forward to this game to see how this young Hawk team holds their own against a power house like Maryland. Don't back down Hawks. Give it your all and get off to a fast start. Go Hawks!!

This is clearly a game they should have won. But they are a very young team and Coach Bluder is still building this offense. They need to improve the ability to go inside. Both Chase and Megan played well, but when they went through that dry spell in the 4th quarter they turned the ball over and weren't able to enter it to the post where they had an advantage. This club is very talented but, still learning. Coach will get them there. Reminds me of the Illinois game last year - a completely unexpected loss.

Coach Bluder, for all the good things she has done with the program, cannot get that third straight win to start the conference.

Coley and Gustafson need to play at the same time.

Peschel gives them nothing and should sit. I respect she is a Sr and is owed her time I guess.

Jennings... what to say about Jennings. A great ball handler...... wish she was a more efficient scorer. She is just too small

Davis... I can only imagine Bluder thinking geez i recruited Jennings, wonder if I could find someone even smaller? Well lookie here..Tania Davis. Want a scholarship?

They lost to Michigan like they lost to ISU... they tend to go into a funk late in each game. Michigan got hot, consectuive turnovers, missed shots, fouls, lost rebounds... did them in.

I really enjoy Iowa Womens Basketball... down right fun and I dont get emotionally wrapped up in a loss.... like the Men or football etc.

I really don't understand your degrading Tania Davis. Tania was Miss Basketball 2015 out of Michigan. Position rank 12 overall rank 36 and was listed as a 5* She might only be 5ft. 4 but you could at least give her a chance before you kick her to the curb.

I wanted to agree and add that both players are very young. People don't remember how Melissa Dixon had to grow into being the shooter we remember. Both Tania and Whitney are learning a lot about team defense and offensive sets they will shoot better as they play more and get more comfortable in the sets the team runs.
Peschel is a solid defender and rebounder, but has not shot as well as Coach Bluder hoped. Carly Mohn was starting to get some of those minutes before she was hurt. This team does still get flustered and they miss Bethany Doolittle neither Chase or Megan demand the ball in those times when the offense dries up the way Doolittle did. They'll learn though.

Nope, not picking on Davis. She's tough.... needs to stop trying to take to the rim although

My remark was towards Bluder... she needs to recruit bigger guards

You got to be kidding me if you are complaining about recruiting Tania Davis. She is an amazing talent and her speed more than makes up for her size. I like Iowa's guards a lot. Alexa Kastanek continues to play well too.

As far as the centers go, yes I also would like to see them both on the court maybe for about 5 minutes per game depending on the match ups. Since the injury to Carly Mohns they could use help there. Chase Coley has the speed and shooting range to play the position. It's just a matter of getting the 5 best players on the court. I could also see next year them both being potential starters. Iowa also has Hannah Stewart on the bench and she is going to be a good post player.

Coach Bluder did say she expected Hannah Stewart to start competing for some of Carly Mohn's minutes. That would give them some very nice depth inside. Especially since it seems Buttenham is more comfortable as a wing player. This is a team that's going to get better and better as the season progresses.

Big game today at Carver against No. 5 Maryland and CR native Brenda Frese. Third game in 7 days for Hawks.
