Lady Hawks get a #6 seed

They host Marist in the first round and then if they win, a probable match up with #3 Louisville

I figured they'd get no worse than a 5 seed. Still better than the last few years, for sure.

I thought a 6 seed was a little low. But can't complain much since the first 2 rounds are in Carver.

Admittedly I only watched the Iowa women in the BTT, but they looked really good and they are a really young team. I think they only have one senior starter on the team this year. I read somewhere that they have a couple really good girls coming in next year too. Happy for them

Boy, there really is no love for the Ladies on here, is there....

no.

it's interesting - the clown women have made it to one more ncaa tourn. in a row than iowa - something like 8 straight to 7 straight - the interest in the two fan bases seems to be polar opposite - at least as represented on these message boards. i think it has something to do with the 'overall' lack of success in the men's side (save for recent fred success).

they get solid attendance for successful women's teams - basketball and volleyball.

The LADY HAWKS are a fun group to watch. Get up and down the floor pretty good. Inside outside game. When they start hitting those threes it's lights out. Hope they make it to the sweet sixteen. They can do it' GO HAWKS!

It'd be nice if this team got at least a little more attention around here. Basketball is the only sport on campus that the women have had much success in (softball is just okay), but they get pretty low support, both in terms of attention on this site and attendance.

I'm hoping they can make a run this year; they've got a nice recruiting class coming in, but they're going to miss Taylor next year.

I can remember during the Stringer years they were able to fill Carver. I think the women get good support but it will never get talked about as much as the men.

Stringer is a turncoat, but the 1993 team should have won it all. The o$u big girl with that strange hairstyle. The bow at the front of the hair, plus she was just so big. Even as a viewer it was distracting. Iowa still should have won, The game went to overtime. They could have beat Sheryl Swoopes team for the championship. This year they will win it all though, go Hawks!

*hums to self*

"there's no such thing as a Lady Hawk..."

I thought the Hawkeyes would get a higher seed. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it matters much. One of the truly frustrating things about women's college basketball is that in a given year, only three or four teams (if that many) are capable of winning it all.
