Kyle Meyer

I love the potential of Uhl but I personally think many gave up on Meyer too early. He's one guy I think could have helped spell White at the #4 while providing a bit more offense than Dom at this stage of their careers.

"Meyer, a sophomore from Johns Creek, Ga., averaged 20.3 points, 11 rebounds, 1.3 assists and one block in three games during the voting period. He led the Titans to wins in all three games as they ran their winning streak to 13."

"For the week, Meyer shot 68.6 percent (24-of-35) from the floor, 62.5 percent (5-of-8) on three-pointers and 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from the free throw line."

Agreed. Really never got an opportunity in games. Figured he'd be a guy that could help by his 3rd or 4th year in the program. Big kid who could bang around inside and had some skill.

He gave up on us. The playing time wasn't there for him last year but could have been this year had he stuck it out.

He couldn't get those numbers in the B1G... Just like Dickerson can't see the floor in the B1G after having a high scoring average at the junior college level.

Good grief. From what I saw, when he was in Iowa City, I'd say if he found a place to play
BB anywhere, he was lucky. I saw ZERO potential for him doing ANYTHING in the BigTen.
ZERO.

I was looking forward to seeing him play. One of the reasons he probably left was all the crap he got from other people while at Iowa. I've read a lot of crap on these boards about him, but only God knows how much he got daily while living in Iowa City. I'm sure Gesell, Clemmons, Oglesby, and Woodbury get a lot of crap too.

I highly doubt some guy that sits at the end of the bench gets heckled while walking through campus.

How many times a day does a guy have crap thrown at him before you consider it heckling. Myers got a lot of ink on these boards before he transferred. I'm sure a 6 foot 9 Iowa scholarship basketball player is widely known in campus, but were also talking about whenever he did anything during the day. Its hard to believe it would happen continually, but its also hard to believe it didn't happen.

Sounds like he is having a great year. I am very happy for him and wish him nothing but the best. Although it didn't work out for him here at Iowa I appreciate the fact that he thought enough of us to sign on and that at the time his signing may have influenced others to at least take a stronger look at us. Thank you Kyle and good luck in the future.

Threads like this one make me chuckle and shake my head every time I read one...did the OP seriously ever watch Meyer play? One really has to wonder, as IMO, Meyer was anything but a difference maker.

Never called him a difference maker. I simply stated he could have been a serviceable role player to spell White. I also stated I like Uhl's potential as well but if you ask me whether I would prefer to have Meyer on the bench opposed to "banking" it this season I stand by the assessment much as I still question how effective Trey will be at Iowa as I believe I may actually be taller and well-coached teams will abuse him on post isolations with a bigger guard.

I thought Meyer had some skills. He could pass the ball around the basket and I would have liked to see him stick around but he chose to leave. I don't think he got much grief on this board or any other.

Marble, White Woody, Olaseni, and Uthoff are all players who recieved a lot more grief on this board than Kyle Meyer ever did.

I see a lot of crap in your rationale for him leaving. He didn't catch a lot of crap, except for not playing. But he didn't really catch a lot of crap there either, really. You're full of crap in your explanation. That is all I can see.

Kyle Meyer was never a high D1 player. He played on one of the best AAU teams in the country and scouts saw him play a lot of basketball. Yet his best offer besides Iowa was East Carolina.

Nothing against the kid, but he was what he was. A mid major talent.

I'm guessing everyone on this thread who thinks Meyer is a BIG Ten Baller also thinks Andrew Brommer was a legit Big Ten player?
