You mean Martinez was sacked more times than Stanley? Oh the humanity! I thought we had a wooden Indian standing back there. Our OL pass protection was excellent all year and the stats are there to back it up. They led the B1G in fewest sacks allowed. They may be even better next year.
Fewest Sacks Allowed (all games 2018):
Iowa - 13
Michigan -15
Rutgers - 16
OSU - 16
WI - 19
MSU - 21

Agree, both in the run and pass protection that was a solid performance. They were getting 4-5 yards of push on Nebraska's DL on many runs and I don't recall Stanley being sacked. The Oline had their best game Friday.
Our line in 2016 (and 2015) was better suited for run blocking.Too bad CJB didnt have that much protection in 2016.
But I give the kudos also and it is also a function of Stanley throwing the ball a way a number of times and feeling pressure and getting rid of the ball which I think is smart in KF's offense which is not good in 2nd and 3rd and long.
It will be interesting to see what happens at Center on the OL next year. That's the only potential weak spot early in the season, mainly due to lack of game time reps. I can see both Paulsen twins at Guard as well as Kallenberger (if he can add another 15 lbs.) Center could be a Banwart, Duwa, Newborg, Paulsen or a couple of other underclassmen if they surprise us. I think Kallenberger's more natural position is Tackle but hopefully we don't need him there next year. He did a nice job in there as a RS Freshman when he was needed this year. Our line in 2016 (and 2015) was better suited for run blocking.
This line is better suited for pass blocking. It will get better at run blocking, I hope, when Kallenberger moves to guard next year. We will still need to find a new center for at least the fourth year in a row.
