KOK to interview at UCONN?

Great thing for Ken if he gets the job. I would really like to see if we can get an OC that can develop an offensive style that really highlights our QB. Having no real viable NFL quarterback all this time has been strange.

We've sent numerous backs, tight ends, O-linemen to the NFL (some with great success) but quarterbacks just elude our program for some reason. I would love to see that change.

I disagree. We have had excellent QBs under O'Keefe, just not NFL type QBs. Keep in mind that that maybe between 15-20 QBs from college go to the NFL in a given year. Plenty of good programs don't send their QBs to the NFL.

By that logic, it is even more statistically difficult for Iowa to have produced both an NFL Kicker and Punter, but we have both Kaeding and Baker on NFL rosters.

I'm not slighting the quarterbacks that have played for Iowa, I'm only saying we are either:

NOT recruiting the elite talent at this position

NOT developing our existing potential (a la Dallas Clark)

Just to make this even more painful -- Iowa State has Rosenfels AND Wallace on NFL rosters -- IOWA CAN DO BETTER

So, Drake has a kicker on a NFL roster. Statistical anaomaly.

What would you rather have, Rosenfels and Wallace losing in college and losing in the pros, or winning with Banks, Chandler, Tate, and Stanzi and having them go on to sell insurance.

If you notice something, it is not Iowa failing to get elite QBs to put in the NFL, the Big 10 hasn't put many starting NFL QBs out there. I count 4 (Brady, Brees, Orton, Henne). To contrast, the freaking ACC has 5 (Vick, Schaub, Ryan, Rivers, Hasselbeck), and USC alone has 3 (Palmer, Sanchez, Cassell).

Hey, spin it however you want. You omit Kerry Collins and Troy Smith from your list -- and Antwaan Randle El who converted to WR and started for Pittsburgh in 2005 when they won the Superbowl. I count 5 Superbowl rings for Big 10 QBs in whatever capacity and 0 for ACC/USC.

Secondly, Seneca Wallace didn't lose to Brad Banks, and I have a hunch that Banks would probably take that NFL spot in a heartbeat.

Again, I believe Iowa can do better. Forgive me if I have hopes and expectations that are dimming your black and gold goggles.

I think you did not read her post all the way or you failed to understand it. she said Starting QB's randel El is not starting and the only reasons why Troy Smith and Collins are starting is because their teams did poor jobs drafting QB's with picking up Vince young and Alex Smith. Also i dont believe she said that ISU beat Iowa, just that they were winners and ISU are losers. Which they are.

Then she wasn't very clear either as Rosenfels and Wallace aren't starting QBs either. Make your arguments. Iowa doesn't have a QB in the league. Period.

Um, she didn't bring up Rosenfels and Wallace. This discussion is giving me a headache.

She mentioned them. If your going to say just starting QBs then don't bring them into it.

Other B10 schools and lesser programs put qb's into the NFL, we should be able to produce one every once in a while.

Read the post she quoted.

I'm with you Gravy, all I'm saying is that she talked about them, which makes it ok to talk about backup QBs which Iowa still doesn't have any. I'm just saying when she brings them up I instantly think of backup QBs not starters, so that's where I went.

One point I am making is that lesser programs put QBs in the NFL all the time, so clearly producing NFL QBs is not requisite to being a successful program. For instance, Boston College has two starting QBs in the NFL playoffs this season, and when was the last time that team mattered?

So I guess the overall theme of my rant is; While it would be nice to produce an NFL QB, it is not a requisite.

(also, a big LOL at calling Randal-El a Super Bowl winning QB!)
