Koehn miss

Anyone get a good close live look at Koehn's miss by a whisker?
On tv, that looked like it sailed directly over the upright.

The announcers also said that since the crowd behind the uprights were not cheering as the ball passed the poles, that was an indicator that they got the call right. I am inclined to agree.

What is weird is that the ref that was directly below the ball was looking at the other ref and waited for him to signal.

No moving camera on the posts, looking up? Makes no sense, kind of like the goaline camera at an angle to the goalline.

The only thing I can think of is that it hooked in after crossing. It was weird.

As someone has pointed out elsewhere, I believe that is the refs making sure they saw the same thing and are going to make the same signal. Can you imagine if one signalled good while the other no good?

If any portion of the ball travels directly over the goalpost, the kick is no good. That's the hs rule and I would guess the NCAA would be the same.
Correct, the official on the other post will not make a signal since it is the other official's call.

I had no problem with the call after seeing the replay..couldn't have overturned it if they signaled good either..no angle to prove make or miss...nothing definitive to make me mad

I'm happy this is being discussed. I have rewatched this kick several times on DVR. My take fwiw...
M K kicked, the ball looked wide left ( view from behind the g posts ) or wide right ( front of posts view ). The replays were from both views and my take is this- as the ball sailed very high with plenty of distance, it started wide but hooked in as it approached the posts. The ref on the left side should make the call because it was directly over him. However, after it flys by, he looks at the ref to his right for his opinion and that man waves his hands..no good....yep, the man who should have called it agrees and waves no good.

It was close, but inside. IMHO, missed call. No hook, wide. With the hook, just inside. But that puppy was very high in the air and sailing!! I can understand why he wanted help from other guy. I'm sure MK would say in, but the game goes on.

The kick that caused me angst was MN onside kick..whew..!! I didn't see green bay tday, but heard they pulled one off vs.Detroit.

Right but the first to signal should be the one under the ball. Not the one who has no angle to see it clearly.

Correct. But he looked at other ref to concur evidentally. Looked good on replays..even TV analysts were fooled by the call. Looked good to them. We won anyhow .

I thought it went in but I was at the game so didnt have a great angle. I thought it was funny though because an Iowa fan text me saying Iowa got screwed and it went in, then I text my gopher buddy to ask him and he said it didnt go in but it was close.
