A broken bone in the foot. Happened when he landed after catching a pass from reserve QB Mullen. If it's serious, it's 8 weeks. His season could be over

Oh no, so he'll still collect the rest of his year on that monster contract and won't have to have guys who weigh 255 and can run 4.4 40s trying to rip his head off? Sounds like a terrible situation.

It didn't show up on the initial X Ray, it was caught by the MRI. Good decision to get paid last summer, although he earned it by default with his play. Niners could have had him play out his initial rookie deal, then tag him.
Allen Robinson take note. Your next play could be your last. Your agent is trying to chisel a few more dollars out of the McCaskey's in a pandemic year. I saw nothing wrong with what they were offering you. You probably should have taken it. Now you're ina Rod Tidwell situation and I hope it works out for you like it did for Tidwell.
We had a local star football player break a bone in his foot senior year. Not even the MRI could catch it at first. After he finally stayed off it and the swelling went down the MRI finally did. He ended up having screws put in, then later taken out. Cost him his senior track season. Tried to walk on at Iowa but the recovery process for his type of injury was eighteen months. He was poised to be the starting running back at U of Dubuque this fall then the germ wiped out that season.
Moral of the story. Foot fractures can be very tricky. Kudos to Kittle to getting his deal done while the getting was good.
This season is toast for them. Over 40% of their salary cap is on the IR. It's unreal. I'll be happy if either of these things happen.,
Mullens sucks and they lose most of the rest of their games and get a top 10 pick to get a new QB (Justin Fields is my wish list for them)
CJB gets to play and does pretty well auditioning himself for another gig somewhere. He's a career backup that seems pretty evident now but I'd rather he not be 3rd string. So hopefully he can get a better shot at that then where he is even though he's on my favorite team. It feels like they'll make a change at QB 1 this offseason. So we'll see.

Maybe the Broncos would take a look at Beathard. Drew Lock had an amazing game on Sunday (probably best of his career to my recollection), but has not been a pretty sight overall.

Shanahan isn't Bill Belichick, but they were doing all the right things to build a dynasty in SF before the injury stuff started happening.
You really think they'll shop Garapollo? It always sounded to me Like Lynch and Shanahan were ride or die with him.

Don't want that. Denver is more of a QB graveyard than Cleveland now. They've had 12 starting QBs since manning left in '15. Normally I'd be all for CJ getting a starting shot, but that place is a dumpster fire of the grandest design and no one makes it out of there alive. They put zero necessary pieces around their QBs, and that wouldn't be good for CJ.
Well many in the media seem to think they are done with him. He's missed significant time in 3 seasons now. The only ability that matters is availability first and foremost. His contract has no more guaranteed $ so now's the time to cut the cord if they wanted to do it. It's just the type of situation where all the stars are aligned and pointing that way. Steve Young even thinks they'll make a move. Now what kind of move is the question... I don't want to bring in an aging Matt Ryan. (not even factoring how expensive he is he's only going to begin regressing) Don't give me Kirk Cousins just don't. I'd almost rather they tank this yr and see if they can somehow get Justin Fields. But this team is built to win now and who adds a rookie QB to be the missing piece? Nobody so that makes no sense either. So heck if I know. I could see them keeping Jimmy G only because there's no step up to be made...
They need a backup to him if nothing else too it's as good a spot as any I agree.
I dunno I kinda think it might be. They've added WRs and TE and RB weapons these last couple years. Just improve their Oline and QB play and I think they can be dangerous. They are in the wrong division with KC atm but they can at least make em work for it

It's going to be a bit of a surreal game tomorrow night. Both teams have numerous players out. Unless Jones makes sudden progress, the Packers are literally down to their 4th and 5th string RBs.
It is crazy. 9ers are down to their 3rd RB and he's banged up not playing a ton. I read somewhere the 9ers had like 40% of their salary cap tied up to players on IR.... Obviously the QB and Kittle skew that. If Bosa wasn't on his rookie contract still it'd be significantly more then that. I'm not sure a team has been more decimated by injuries in a yr then the 9ers have it's insane

I agree. Although it's really impossible to argue against Fry's assertion that Denver is a QB graveyard - no question in my mind that's the truth - I don't think it's fair to say there aren't supporting pieces in place. They've got Fant for one thing and then a very dynamic backfield in MG3 and Lindsay. Really, I think the O-line is the real problem...if they can shore up there, Denver is a playoff team, easily. Key word of course being "if"!
It has been for sure but is that due to coaching or just picking bad Qbs to start with? Hard to make chicken soup outta dog shit. Maybe who they got now will be. I have my doubts with his ups and downs and how he tends to catch the injury bug but who knows. That AFC west got tough all of a sudden. The Raiders aren't a pushover now either.
