I'm finding that I feel the same about Ferentz as I felt about Davis at the end of his time as Iowa's basketball coach. Here are some similarities I thought of......
1. Both, if you judge their entire body of work, were successful head coaches.
2. Both were loyal to a fault to weak-link assistant coaches.
3. Both represented the state of Iowa with class and honor.
4. Both were average, and that's being kind, recruiters.
5. Both stubbornly refused to change their style of play based on the "talent" they had on the team. Remember the up-tempo full-court pressing teams featuring Troy Skinner, Wade Lookingbill, and Les Jepsen??
6. Both never made excuses or publicly threw a player under the bus(Alford).
7. Both had zero issues with the NCAA.
8. Both stayed at the University of Iowa too long with the majority of fans ready for them to go.
