Kirk Ferentz Keeps Focus on Team

KFer's integrity always on display. It's a huge reason - rightfully so - why so many revere him.

It's also a reason why so many struggle with him ever leaving. So many muddy up their perspective of Iowa football's routine underperformance for most of the last decade because of it.

Kirk Ferentz is, indisputably, a high-character, high-integrity, high accountability, class-act guy.
Kirk Ferentz and his (literal and figurative) offensive coaching staff are, indisputably, not good at football.

As posted dozens of times over the years, I go further and feel that it has cost Iowa numerous winnable games throughout his career. It's becoming more obvious over most of the last decade but it's been there all along. Always get a kick out of citations of Iowa's record during "X" time span, or, rubbing elbows with the "elites" based on "X". The gloss-over is that so many of those losses could have and should have been W's with, simply, a competent offense, situational adjustment, schematic adjustment to personnel, ruthless attack, etc.

Personally, very excited about the post-Ferentz future of Iowa football.

Is anybody else wondering if this all some elaborate decoy? That Iowa is secretly rolling out a new offense with a new QB and possibly a new Offensive Coordinator?

LMFAO no, just no. We would never get that lucky and this staff isn't capable of pulling off such a feat.

I just wonder how much of the fault goes to Kirk on the poor performance of Brian at Iowa as OC? Did he hold him back, restrain him? Does he feel responsible? I mean his son failed on his watch. I would bet some part of this is in Kirk's head, and it likely hurts, alot.

I think that all depends on what you consider "held him back"? Did KF keep him from a top 50 rated offense with this dumpster fire of an offense. Doubtful. But at the same time, I think if he would have been able to find a way into that 70-80 range which I think was feasible then I think he'd still be employed.

KF's ultimately responsible to some degree, but BF's was bad even by KF's offensive production standards. I think the only thing he should feel responsible (or even guilty of) is not pulling the pin on the experiment sooner and moving BF back to a position before his nepotism made his son the laughing stock of college football.

Many think and say at least in my world that Kirk has too much say in the offense which would help explain the poor avg performance of the offense no matter the OC under Kirk. I just don't know but offense is simply not our forte. Definitely the worst the past 3 years. Another hire and another abysmal performance would further support this opinion.

We are not just known for excellent Tight. Ends but our offensive lines over the many years were well respected as amongst the best. I think if our offense had maintained that level of excellence on the offensive line then I believe we would not have lost a five star to Alabama.

Funny how a university in large major city like West Lafayette (sarcasm) could manage to consistently put up strong offenses in the B1G.

They had just the opposite problem with their defense. I have no doubt that if Parker was their defensive coordinator over many years, that Purdue not Wisconsin would have been the king of the Hill in the B1G west.
