DL last year vs ISU
They ran the ball for 190 yards on us and we couldnt do much about it. You cannot win consistently if you are giving up a lot of rushing yardage. They have a lot of those guys back this year and a big line. We will have to play at a much higher level defensively/
Do you bring that game up to your DL?
I wont have to say much. They focused on that during the out of season. When they look at the tapes they look at last years game and they will have reminders dureing the week

value Parker has had on Iowa and how important
His contributions have been invaluable Just a few years ago some said game had passed him by and he was too old. He has done a tremendous job as a DC but also what he brings to the staff with experience. He is so respected by everyone on staff and program and certainly players. He has been tremendous. I am in my 21st year here, we have had two coordinators during my time. Bill Brashier, one of best I have been around in my life and now Norm. great caoches and people. It's good luck to be around guys like that.
Challenge and frustration that might come competing on national scale when you see situations like REggie Bush more problem now?

As far as dealing with teams getting improper benefits, not on up and up
The world has changed. there are more distractions out there now. One thing I remember from reading the Vince Lombardi book when pride still mattered, he played on Fordham team that could have gone undefeated and they lost...and some of his players were playing Saturday and then playing sandlot ball for $50 on Sunday and things caught up with them. People do dumb things all of the time.

Could you talk about what makes Iowa-ISU unique
Outside of 3 mil people nobody lives here. Its early in the season and we are both in BCS conferences, but different leagues. It's like aconference game for us, all of the importance of a Big Ten game. Historically, brought back to life in late 70's a lot of attention then. Then it got one sided and they came back with a vengeance in 1998 and beat Iowa in Kinnick, Iowa was 20+ point favorites. Tooth and nail since then. Great for creating interest in football in our state everywhere.

How things change with Jewel in mix, how excited to see him in game
We have two that we feel confident in. Adam and Jewel have pushed ahead of Paki. He practiced without contact in spring and he has had nice camp. Anxious to get back and on the field Any coach feels better with confidence in two backs.
