Fans craving for "emotion" from their coaches is extremely overrated. Yes, at one point, I wanted Steve Alford to act more like Bob Knight. But look at how sideline emotion worked out for Mike Stoops at Arizona. Player at this level shouldn't need a coach jumping up and down on the sideline like a fool, playing up the cameras and fans.
Who said they wanted that? It's fair for fans to ask for a coach who cares. There's no evidence that shows he does (other than his job description). He never appears to be frustrated, excited, anything. Instead we get "Well, that's football".
You could roll F'ing HAL 9000 out on the sidelines every week - as long as HAL is leading us to W's, I could give a rats behind what kind of emotions he is/isn't displaying.
So, you can think whatever you want about the job KF is doing (I"m going to withhold my thoughts on that until I can take a little of the emotion out), but when are people going to get over this notion that you can glean how much "emotion" KF puts into it from what you observe on TV and press conferences? Does it ever occur to anyone this could be a persona he puts on for the cameras/press?

I'm not even sure why they interview Ferentz... or beledick
It's like interviewing an automated billing system

I really don't get all this "KF doesn't show emotion"crap. Seriously, what is it you want him to do? It's not in him to be like that at a press conference. He's trying to be as professional as he can is my guess. I think he really tries very hard to control his emotions. I'm at the games and I've seen him jumping around and running down the sidelines, ****** at things and obviously the TV camera aren't picking that up.
Last week someone was mad because after a big play he didn't get all happy faced about it. Maybe it was because he still had a game to concentrate on? Maybe there were accolades later for him in the locker room. We don't know.
Do you want him to be like Dantonio? Someone give an example of what and how you would tell reporters that the game sucked, without alienating the fans, shaming the players, or making a fool of yourself. Based on what I read here, most of you have absolutely no self control.
Maybe it's because I'm a woman, but I seem to be able to read his body language better than you all and can tell by his eyes, mannerisms, and behavior that he's NOT happy after the games and he's very irritated. You can tell the last place he wants to be is there getting interviewed about that losing game. Kind of like a lot of you that turned off the TV immediately after the game and didn't want to talk about it.
***** about his coaching if you want but whining that "Kirk shows no emotiona and that makes me emotional" thing is getting old
I guess I feel like players feed off of their coach's energy, or lack there of. You see other coaches out pumping players up after a big 3rd down stop or a big play on offense. You're lucky if you get a pat on the helmet from KF. And it shows with our team. Even after a decent play, rarely does anyone show it. And it's not like we're Bama where we can should act like it's routine, b/c it's not for us. For anyone who's ever played competitive sports, it's important to have those guys, coaches definitely included, that can get you fired up from time to time when needed. These guys look like they're playing for Lackluster out there, and the results are now beginning to show it.
