Kicking Game

where are all of our kickers? and why cant we get someone that is more reliable? last time i felt comfortable with a kicker at Iowa was Nate Kaeding. Can't we take a scholarship and use it on someone who can make field goals

Its college FB, good kickers are few are far between. Meyer does appear to kick the ball a little low but the FG try had a poor snap and Donahue bailed. Probably should have held on and let Meyer kick it.

On snaps as bad as that one, Donahue made the right play. You're only asking for trouble if you try to kick that one. It throws the kicker off his rythm when a snap is that bad; they will usually hesitate. That's asking for either a block or a miss. A miss gives you the same result that Donahue gave us: Wisky ball at the LOS. A block is much worse than that.

I have no problem with our current kickers. In fact Donahue is a big-time weapon and Meyers has proven to be pretty impressive for a TR FR.

You do realize neither missed FG has anything to do with the kicker today, right?

In my opinion, if you compare Wisky's K to ours the height of his PAT kicks wasn't even close. Way way higher and pretty much unblockable. We should have had our last one blocked too, it barely got over the linemens head and may have even been tipped, I had a great view from my seat. We should consider using one of the others for PATs at least if he can't kick it higher.

FWIW, I personally thought Donahue should have put it down and let him kick it too and that the snap wasn't that bad. If he misses so what, but it was such a close attempt he might have still made a shanker. I would love for someone with some knowledge in this area to tell me how a coaching staff decides on a punter holding anyway? Just curious.

Perhaps your problem is you are comparing all of our kickers to best kicker in Iowa's history. He's also the most accurate kicker in NFL history as well.

I do think there's room for improvement in the kickoff department; punting is very good; I'd like to find a placekicker that has a higher trajectory---like Wisconsin's.

Did you not watch the game or are you just not very smart? I'm assuming you aren't blaming him for the bad snap..The block was Not his fault. The defensive guy was untouched through the middle of the line. NO KICKER COULD HAVE MADE THAT ONE.

With the pressure on in the 4th qrtr, he MADE the fg.

Where's the dude from Aussie everybody was raving about a few months back?

He's a punter and I watched him warm up. He has the slooooooooooooooowest delivery ever. He catches stares at teh ball, turns then slowly steps and punts. He'll get blocked 80% of the time. Seriously he is that slow.
