Keegan Render Comfortable Sliding into Center Position

Hopefully Barnwart can work his way into the center position and Keegan goes back to guard. 3 different centers in 3 years could be tricky.

I sincerely hope Render does well, whether at center or guard, but, I have to admit, his past performance has me concerned.

Keeping it real, there have been numerous times where I've seen him completely whiff on a block, or get bull rushed with ease. Hopefully, knowing that he was going to play a more prominent role motivated him to improve his strength and agility this off-season. We really need a few of those interior linemen to step up to the plate in a big way.

I’m glad he’s stepping in as a senior and not a sophomore. Reading defenses is hard enough without having to remember what play your own team is running.

How good are our starters at guard? I am assuming Reynolds and Levi Paulsen are the two starters at this point. Kallenberger seems to be gaining ground, but still needs experience and some more bulk on his frame. He is also tall, and that doesn't always work out inside. Landan Paulsen seems to be healthy and getting a full workout. It's possible Banwart might see some backup duty at guard at some point.

I think they're trying to get Banwart and Duwa as many reps as possible at C with an eye on one of them bring the starter in '19. That's not to say that one of those guys isn't capable of winning the job this summer and pushing Render back out to guard.

I like the growth I've seen from Reynolds. I think he will be solid at LG. Levi and Landan look to be competing at RG right now.

I could also see a scenario where Kallenberger pushes is way into playing time at RT with Alaric Jackson moving inside to RG.

Need to find the best five. They're trying a lot of combinations out in spring ball.

I really liked Kallenberger coming out. Hard to see him inside, though. Your thought of moving Jackson inside is interesting. Assuming Render and Reynolds (and Levi...) make the necessary leaps, that would be an imposing offensive line.
