Kaymer on fire but can he now hold a lead at Pinehurst??

That is amazing to shoot two 65s. with all those waste areas, scrabble, trees, and hard breaking greens he had to be not missing any shots.

But it is real hard to back up a great round, which he did, but can he maintain his tempo and putting for two more rounds.

Can someone put pressure on him. Snedeker had a -4 opening first 9 holes but then gave some back. But he is sitting at -3 and two 66s could put him in touch with Kaymer.

Kaymer's round was crazy good, made some nice putts, and some even better shots.....leads like that are a rarity in a major, but we'll see what happens over the weekend.....Live from Pinehurst, this is NEIChawk reporting from the 19th Hole......

Thanks for the report NEIChawk!!! we look forward to your report after tomorrow's round.

Gil Morgan had a huge lead at the US OPen at Pebble some years ago. But then the wind came up on the weekend and he crumbled.

If either Compton or Fowler can shoot another 67 they will finish at -6 and if Kaymer follows up with another 72 he is at -6.

I think the first 6 holes will tell as that will let us know who has their swing and putting going.

I am pulling for compton or fowler.

And Stenson or D Johnson could throw in a low number.

These greens are wicked though. You can be hitting the ball well and still end up not rewarded.
