Kafka might be out for Iowa

Northwestern's do-everything QB, Mike Kafka, suffered a serious hamstring injury against Penn State and did not play the last 2.5 quarters (this is a recurring injury for him). I'm guessing that he will not play against Iowa, or at least will not be as effective if he does play.

This is an important development for Iowa, because NW is not the same team without him.

We'll know more by Tuesday - Fitzgerald their coach pretty mum on the subject right now.

While losing Kafka would be a huge loss, their backup that played against PSU yesterday seemed very much like the same type of guy, albeit with less experience. I don't know how much to worry about him throwing the ball, but he's a slipperly little guy.

I would rather have Kafka play. Would rather face a QB with a bad wheel (especially a hammy) than face a back-up that we know nothing about, especially if the back-up is a carbon-copy (but only with less experience). Kafka wont be able to elude the rush as well and a hammy injury could easily affect your throwing accuracy.

I dont know that I would call it a serious hammy injury. He was back on the sidelines later, on the bike. Andy Brodell had a serious hammy injury.
