Kicking it
The Chargers’ kicker competition might have been over before the game even started as Nate Kaeding is expected to get back the job he ceded to Nick Novak last year.
If there is a competition, Novak might not have helped himself by clanging a 35-yard attempt off the left upright in the second quarter.
“We were out of sync,†Novak said. “I felt good going into it. Something was off.â€
It’s not always entirely the kicker’s fault, though, and it appeared the snap was rushed to beat the play clock.
Kaeding, who tore knee ligaments on the opening kickoff of the 2011 season, made two PATs while Novak made the only one he attempted.
