Coach Bill Carmody is currently looking for work. Now granted, I know his high water mark is a little lower, with Fran having that NIT runner up trophy in his case and Carmody only made it to the NIT quarterfinals, but Carmody can flat out coach and he understands the nuances of the game. Poor guy was held back by NU's recruiting standards, but if those shackles are off, I suspect that if you gave him 5 years, he would manage to get further than a play-in loss in the NCAA tourney.

Don't bother the love Fran around here.
 
Fran and the hawks are OK when they shoot well OK4P. Fran made enough moves today to keep the team in it when they were offensively lackluster. But Fran also thinks this team has the speed to double team 30 feet from the basket and then chase and play scramble defense. They are not that fast.

I bet Fran wishes he would have played that first half straight up alternating just zone and man with no hedging and NW would have had trouble getting off many good looks. NW had 18 of 26 points off scramble situations in the first half.

Fran still doesnt have the shooters he needs and yes he is responsible for recruiting.

But it is an easy algorithm for Iowa, shoot well + get ahead + force the other team + get defensive rebounds and run = Victory.

Iowa could not get NW out of their zone and shot bad and that was the difference.

Northwestern's smothering defense clobbered Iowa - that is why Iowa shot so bad. NU's bigs swatted so many balls that their hands are chapped. White and Woodbury just got absolutely dominated in the paint. It was high comedy watching them try to take it up against a much more talented group of big men.

But I supposed NW had to get at least one win in 2015 by November.
 
I realize you have your little trolling schtick going on right now, but I will play along. Hey, why not bring in that Princeton offense, lose games 50-45 to a half empty arena.
