To the seniors and team for their effort and hard work. I know it didn't end the way they intended but I appreciate their effort. Looking forward to next year. Go hawks!

Absolutely. The foundation has been laid. Gatens got us back to postseason play, this senior class got us back to the NCAA's, now it's up to the next few classes to continue to build upon this.

I will appreciate this group of seniors for the choices they made 4 years ago. Basabe traveled half way across the US to play for the Hawks. McCabe stuck firm to his commitment after TL was fired. Marble is one of the reason we are no longer the laughing stock of college basketball.

Fran has brought excitement back to the Hawkeyes.

Man, this one is hard to take. I can't imagine the feelings pouring through the heads of the players. We all should thank what these seniors have done for this program the past four years. Hell, we were cheering for our team in the NCAA tourney. Furthermore, it made the entire basketball more enjoyable with having the Hawks hunting for a tourney birth. This team about killed me, but I'll never forget how this team broke the drought. We can all make excuses for the loss and call the team a disappoint, but I'm proud of what the team did. At the end of the day, I'm still proud to be a Hawk, and I'm already excited for the next season to tip-off!

Go Hawks!

See ya at church brother. Life has it's priorities and we all get caught up in this game world of winning and losing. Pretty sad in the big picture. We all need to get a life. We'll be back in the Fall reloaded and ready to go.

Good post OP. I feel for the seniors like Basabe who the refs clearly identified early as difference maker and took him and any runs we had out of the game with all of the crap whistles. Not a guy who likes to place blame in one area, but these refs should be kicked to middle-school basketball. I am glad that McCabe kept fighting and was in good position a lot and was able to go out on his terms unlike Mel.

Well said. Wasn't very long ago there was no such thing as expectations as it relates to the Iowa Basketball program. I believe the improvement will continue, the underslassmen will learn from the experience of this season. It was a difficult way to end the season but hang in there Hawk fans Fran will get this program where we would like it to be. Thanks to the seniors for sticking it out & making me proud to say I'am a Iowa Basketball fan.
GO HAWKS!

Sucks that Fran had to go through family health problems in a year that he had the highest expectations in his career at Iowa. And it seem to come at a time when Iowa lost it's composure (McCabe social media mistake), losing it's identity on both offense and defense. Fran had a lot to deal with. While we criticize his minute allocations and lineup matchups, I have to give thanks to Fran McCaffery. He has indeed brought energy back to the program, both with fan attendance and on court performances. I just hope he believes inhimself to achieve more at this level, more than just peeking up from B1G gutter sniffing NCAA tournament/Field of 64. I hope he can write his name next in Iowa basketball History to the likes of Lute Olsen and Tom Davis.

I also want to thank Zach McCabe. He had some tough shooting spells this year. But he still proved to be valuable in getting surprising paint buckets, providing rebounds, and smart timed fouls. (negating one of course :))

Also Basabe, he played a crucial role in gaining support of Fran McCaffery from the beginning. He helped lead upsets early in Frans years with a talent depleted roster, this years depth proved to take away from needing Mel to score, however he was crucial for boards and defense. Please tell your regional friends of basketball talent to look at the Hawkeyes.

And Marble. Top scorer and offensive facilitator. Tough to see you go out the way you did but in your four years you had already earned your respect. It's going to be tough to replace you.

Wasn't on here last night - but gotta bump this.

I felt bad for the seniors last night, but gotta remember their overall effect on the program rebuilding.

This program IS rising, and will continue to be thanks to them setting the tone early on that first year.
