just hoping fans temper their feelings

don't think this a much better team than they are and don't overlook ANY opponent. this will just lead to a big let down when they lose and it will happen.

I don't think anybody thinks this is a 31-0 team or even a 22-9 team or whatever the total should be.... just don't be such a negative nancy!

I definitely hope I don't over look an opponent. Wouldn't want me to change the channel for a couple minutes as we are playing Gardner Webb only to turn back and see that the Runnin' Bulldogs went on an 11-4 run or something.

just don't want a meltdown on this board like there ussually is on the FB board after EVERY loss no matter who it is too,

looking at the schedule there are 3 posasible losses in the OOC part of the schedule, UNI, ISU and @ VT.
you going to accept as a loss by a very young and in experienced team to a better opponent, or who knows they may 2-4 in the 1st 6 games of the BT, are you going to calmly accept that or are you going to meltdown and call them unacceptable losses

WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT BRAH!!!!! GO LOOK AT THE PREDICTION THREAD AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE THAT MANY OUT OF WHACK PREDICTIONS. WE ALL KNOW WHERE WE STAND....... LOUD NOISES

good to hear you won't have a breakdown if Iowa does lose to UNI, ISU or VT

So what if we win those games or even 2 of them? Are we allowed to be excited then? I don't even think the majority of people on here expect to go undefeated on the OOC.

don't care about getting excited, just want people going into a complete melt down after every loss, to someone they feel is a inferior opponent

its not getting excited that I am talking about,, what I am talking about is people going into a complete meltdown after a loss to somebody people feel is a inferior opponent

This is the kind of thought that is frustrating. The fans anywhere meltdown after losses, it is the ones that stay even keeled after a loss that are the ones you need to pay attention too. My expectation is that Iowa wins 20+ games and make the NCAA tournament, if that doesn't happen you will not see me meltdown, I will not question the coaches either. Here is what I saw last night: a team trying to find itself and a staff trying to find a rotation that is going to be consistent.

What players can be on the floor with Gesell, Marble and White and maximize their role? When that is figured out, this team can be very good, you saw it in stretches last night. Iowa would not have won that game last year...think Campbell when Iowa had no bench and other options...they lose, think South Dakota State when Iowa had no bench.

There is potential to win a lot of games, Iowa has two very good players in White/Marble, a good PG in Gesell and a legit big man in Woodbury, he has things to learn, but I really like what I see so far. If Iowa can get 18-10 out of the Basabe/McCabe combination each night, who wouldn't want that and it gives Iowa scoring and rebounding off the bench. Olaseni comes in and plays a bit out of control, but that is okay, I like the aggressiveness. The combination I like the best last night was Gesell-Clemmons-Marble-White-Basabe, but that was because of the match-up, Iowa can do that this year due to lack of a bench.

Iowa is clearly a better team than last year, they are still working some things out, but I still don't see them piddling some games down their leg like both Purdue games last year, Nebraska at home and the most obvious-Campbell. They are just different and it is in a good way. I am not going to temper my enthusiasm as every year my expectation is Iowa to compete and finish above .500 and have a chance at the NCAA tourney each season, predictions after that are predictions as above. Temper what? There is an excitement that hasn't been there for some time...why is that now a negative?
