Just for fun...

Just for fun let's pretend that Shonn Greene returned for his senior season last year and Speivey and Bulaga returned for their senior season this year.

How many games do we lose?

We would beat the Bears, with or without Ditka.

1 game each year as Iowa will always find a way to lose 1 game they shouldn't just to keep me grounded. :(

I think Iowa would have lost the OSU game still but would have won the NW game.

This year if Bulaga and Speivey came back I think Iowa still loses Arizona game because there was just way to many mistakes in that game but wins the Wisky game.

Shonn Greene on last year's team? Hard to say. Assuming our game plan, etc stayed exactly the same as it was last year, but we had Shonn Greene in the backfield, I think we honestly could have gone 13-0. Maybe 12-1. Probably wouldn't have lost the jNW game, unless they knocked him out the game like they did in 2008. May or may not have had the ability to win against tOSU on the road.

Spievey or Bulaga on this year's team wouldn't make that much more difference, IMO. To be honest, right now our most glaring weakness (other than special teams) may actually be the lack of experience and depth at linebacker.

Spievey would make a huge difference in our secondary. Last year Iowa was tough against the pass, with the exception on the Indiana game. This year's group looks like they are playing pretty soft.

The correct answer is zero.

NW -- we would have been able to let JVB rely on Shonn running the ball which helps him pass the ball.

OSU -- we took them to OT -- Shonn would have made at least a 1pt difference.

Arizona -- our biggest issues in that game was our defensive backfield and O-line. Speivey was so good, he would have help immensely against the dangerous Foles team. Unlikely that the last long throw by Foles is completed with Spievey on the field. After watching Bulaga play last night against the Vikings, it's hard to believe that with his addition to the line that we give up 6 sacks. Would have made up a 6 pt difference.

Wisky -- Spievey had probably his best game in 2009 against Wisky. He blanketed wideouts and was an extremely physical tackler. Bulaga would have only helped. Would have made up a 1 pt difference.

I believe Spievey was questionable with the flu for that game last year too. Great cover corner and great tackling corner in one. D%^@# you, NFL labor negotionations.
