Julius Brents, Riley Moss Ready for Round 2 with Hawkeyes

Brents is reportedly up to 6’3 / 200 which is crazy size for a corner. We need to get this kid on the field his year in my opinion. From a pure talent standpoint I don’t think it’s a stretch to say he’s the highest of any of our corners.

Last year was nothing but good for both of those guys. It will pay big dividends in a couple years for them and the team. Being a true sophomore with a year under your belt, three years to play, and a redshirt in case (god forbid) you get hurt is the best position one could be in as a player.

Having two of them on a team is gravy for Parker.

I really like Hankins. I think OJ gets first crack opposite him, but PP won’t hesitate with one of the younger guys if he falters.

I heard that Belton was the 6th DB in dime packages (with Stone, Merriweather, Hankins, OJ, and DJ Johnson).

There was a lot of movement on kids day. There were times Belton was in there but others times he was not. I would not say he is the 6th DB.

You have been high on Castro's potential to play this year. Did anything you see at kid's day either strengthen or weaken that notion?

He ran with the threes but didn't distinguish himself during that one practice.

I would say Belton his ahead of him. The coaches also like Wes Dvorak, John Milani and Jack Koerner back there, although the latter has been hurt.

Please tell me that Jack Koerner is a bit small for the position, sits in the corner, and has a tendency towards self-congratuations after plucking fruit from holiday pastries.

I hope Brents sees the field a lot this year. I was impressed with him last year and he has crazy size for the position.

Pro Football Focus picks Brents as a 2nd team pre-season All-B1G performer (he had really good #s last year regarding passer rating when targeted).

There are 6 Hawks mentioned overall on either O or D (1st team, 2nd team, or honorable mention). I gave you one. Three of the others are obvious. One makes sense when you think about it. I bet very few guess the 6th Hawk mentioned.

A 6 footer with length that is a dream. And he can turn his hips and run with guys. It is still early, but he has the potential to be special.
