If at the end of the 2017 season, Akrum Wadley isn't seen as one of the top 100 players in CFB, I'll eat a "Make Trump Great Again" hat.
 
Wadley reminds me of a LeShaun McCoy type. He is set up to have a big year. If our offensive line is as advertised, this definitely is one of our keys to success. As for Jewell, the guy is a stud. I think in some aspects he is just as important to success. Both Wadley and McCoy make people better around them and definitely could help a young quarterback get his feet under him.

My fear is everyone will be keyed on shutting Wadley down and forcing us to beat them with our inexperienced QB and WRs.

You're spot on. That is exactly what they will do. Stop the run or put us in positions of having to throw the ball and dial up the pressure.

One thing that might help is Wadley's ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and his elusiveness. Although, at some point and time our passing game will have to prove themselves. That includes stretching the field. Hopefully with a health Vandenberg and a few up and comers like Easley and Brandon Smith, this can be done.

Most coaches say that Iowa is no crystal ball. They know exactly what Iowa will do and have done. Execution will be the deciding factor as well.

Iowa isn't and hasn't tried to fool anyone. That may change under Brian Ferentz, but Iowa relies on fundamentals and execution. Any coach that is interviewed will say they know what Iowa does, but will say that Iowa executes and does the basics better than most (tackling, blocking, and etc).

Typical defense against Iowa is a coming. Seven or eight in the box. Until Iowa can demonstrate that it can successfully throw the ball over the top on a consistent basis then it's going to be a typical grind it out on the ground and short route type of offense..............YAWN!!!!!!

2003 was pretty rough. We had a first year starter in Nathan Chandler at QB. Granted, we had Mo Brown at receiver, but he was hurt a good portion of the year....so our top receiver ended up being Ochoa, with a freshman Calvin Davis as #2. Our FB, Cervantes, ended up being our 3rd leading receiver.

And of course, we took one of our QB recruits and made him a WR, he rarely saw the field, and ended up transferring.
