Jordan: I Was Against All White People

Jordan made those comments as a youngster. This is a nonstory that the media is trying to blow up. Nothing to see here... Moving along.

Weird that a black man in the south would have negative views towards the KKK and slavers.

What a stupid gotcha attempt.

Jordan may have gotten over his racist feelings from when he was younger.. This has nothing to do with him TODAY. But it goes to show that it isn't just the white man who can be a racist. People of all races have bias. Or maybe I should say, people of all races CAN have bias. Not that they all DO.

Eda is right though - this is a non-story. At least to me.

I wasn't trying to suggest that these comments were recent. Only found the article on CNN and thought it was interesting.

Completely agree with Jon. Racism and prejudice are two completely different things. Prejudice isn't always a bad thing... racism is.

News flash - black teen growing up in the south isn't in love with white people. WHAT A SHOCKER!

As far as "racism" goes, it depends on your definition - if you define that loosely as making assumptions about someone based on their race, yeah we're definitely all guilty. If you define "racism" more specifically as changing your behavior towards someone based on their race, then I don't think everyone is guilty of that. Most people I know try really hard not to do the latter.

Come on IronMike this is HawkeyeNation. Bobby Hansen 1992.

Sorry, I don't always wear black and gold goggles. 1992 was the year of Will Perdue, he set the tone for their whole playoff run with a 16 point 10 board 4 block performance against Miami in the first game of the playoffs.

Well, here's an online definition of "racism". The definitions below seem to hint at it, but I personally feel that racism is as much a mindset as it is what you do or don't do. If you dislike (or hate) someone solely because of their skin color, to me, that makes you a racist even if you don't necessarily ACT upon it. Some people may call that prejudice and not racism.. I tend to disagree.

To me, racism is a subset of prejudice. Prejudice may be based on race, gender, religion, or whatever. Prejudice comes in all shapes and sizes. Racism is a form of prejudice, but prejudice isn't necessarily racism. Just my 2 cents.

I also feel that racism is wrong regardless of what color you are. I'm aware of our country's history of racism towards blacks, but if you ask me, it doesn't make it any more right for a black person to hate white people than it does the other way around. It's wrong no matter how you slice it. No one should get a free pass.
