Jon's "source" at BigTen Network ...

may have known what he was talking about.

I remember Jon saying that someone he talked to at the BigTen Network told him not to worry about the OLine after their visit to Iowa City to watch practice. Based on their performance the first two weeks that assessment appears to have been spot on.

I am not going to concede to this until after Saturday night. We have yet to play a team even remotely close to the top 25 caliber opponent we will see in Arizona. Eastern Illinois and Iowa State are not very good football teams. Let's make this statement Sunday morning... i hope!

Agreed

I agree as well. Still, compared to other years, this offensive line is starting out much better than they have in past years. We'll find out Saturday if they are a special offensive line...or just a decent line.

I agree the EIU and ISU may not have had strong d-lines, but how many strong d-lines are we really going to face?

Ariz -- DE strong but 2 new starters at DT
Ball St -- No
Penn St -- lost best d-lineman but returns 3 starters (STRONG)
Michigan -- lost best d-lineman and haven't looked strong
Wisconsin -- again lost best d-lineman and only return 1 starter
MSU -- ?? I think they return 2 starters on the d-line but 2 top notch LBs
Indiana -- Lost both DEs
NW -- lost best d-lineman
OSU -- STRONG LINE
Minnesota -- No

You're kidding right? Minnesota almost beat the powerhouse that is South Dakota last week. Their D-Line held South Dakota to 204 yards and only two touchdowns while only giving up 41 points. Minnesota is going to be tough :p

The opposing defensive lines is the reason I believe Iowa will be in the national title hunt, at least when the Buckeyes to town.

"Throw the records out when these two meet on the field! With Floyd at stake, anything can happen!"
;):p

This is precisely what his 'source' was referring to. Too many people are misinterpreting "don't worry about the o-line" as being "the o-line is going to be awesome". All the 'source' was saying is that Iowa's o-line only has to be better than the d-lines that it's facing...in that regard, Iowa has little to worry about...not because they're awesome but because they only have to be not terrible.

and due to a moped accident and a high ankle sprain...a soph and freshman are now starters---leaving only one hole to fill next fall. They could be scary good next year!!

This line looks better than last year's did at this point, period. The play where I realized we had nothing to worry about at OL was during our first drive against ISU. We were at 3rd and 1, on the verge of starting the game with a 3-and-out. Instead, the OL had a great surge up front and we got the first down on our way to the end zone. It seems like last year, when faced with that scenario, the result would be a coin flip at best. But this year, I'm EXTREMELY confident in our OL and rushing game in short yardage situations. Their experience will be essential to our success next year with a new QB.

Kirk has even expressed his appreciation of their progress......something that rarely happens. This weekend will be a good test for sure.

If by anything you mean another b!tchslapping for Minny then yes, anything can happen.

That reminds me. I need to go up to Minny for that game. Gotta get tickets.

I don't have to worry about getting those goalposts out the metrodome doors.

How big are their bathroom stalls? I'm just curious.

Granted our opponents haven't been great but it seems like it's been awhile since we've dominated the line as well as we have thus far. I really feel like the opponent knows were running and they won't stop us. I don't know if I've felt this way since Gallary was here (I did to an extent two years ago but that was more because of Greene than anything.)

I agree. We will know a lot more about iowa after sat night. So far the last two games have pretty much gone as expected.
