A star at Detroit Southwestern high, Jones earned a scholarship to Iowa, where he set a school record for career steals and was part of the 1986-87 Hawkeyes, who reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament and were the only Iowa men’s basketball team ever ranked No. 1 in the nation.

“I’m a success story,â€￾ Jones said. “Everything that I’ve done, I’ve been a success at it.

I did not remember Clarence playing in the NBA or being that good. But then, I was just a young'n then.

Bill Jones was more of a starter while George Raveling was coaching. He was slim and could handle the ball but also long wingspan and good defender which worked well with Dr Toms press.

Nice to see he had a lot of success.
