Here's an update from 247 sports.

Top247 offensive tackle Jonah Pirsig will be Big Ten bound by the end of the week.

We are in his top 3 with Minny. and Wisky.

I hope he's Hawkeye bound.

Rumors are that he's a big lean to Minny. Of course at various times both Jaleel Johnson and Ryan Ward were said to be leaning elsewhere. Iowa's been on this kid from early in the process and recruiting him hard hopefully that pays off. Not seeing many "name" OL's left on Iowa's offer sheet, after Pirsig there's Diamond(hope he makes his visit). He seems to be favoring UM. I suspect if he doesn't commit to UM on his visit this weekend Iowa will have a good chance of landing him. Schoff seems to be still waiting for a UN offer. Butler, the three star Texas OL's other top offer is from Oklahoma State. Wonder if the coaches are "slow-playing" him waiting to hear from some other guys. Want another stud OT to go along with Ward and those two four star guards from last year.

Rumors have flown all over the place about Pirsig leaning towards Wisky at one time ... now Minny at another. I've never really heard that he's leaned that much towards the Hawks. I assume that many Hawk fans assumed that we'd have a pretty good shot at him because he's from right near the Iowa border. Furthermore, they probably felt that we had a good shot with him because we have a pretty good record for developing small-town guys.

Anyhow, I'm not worried much about how our OL recruiting goes this year. I've heard that we're probably going to be shooting for 4 O-linemen in the '12 class. We already have 2 ... and, from what I gather, we're really high up on Kozan's list. If we were to land Kozan ... that would imply that we've landed 3 guys on the OL who were really high up on our recruiting board. Furthermore, there's still the question as to where Diamond and/or Shoff end up landing.

Lastly, I'm willing to bet that there are several O-linemen who the coaches really like but want to evaluate some of their SR film first. Thus, that still leaves us with quite a bit or room to land an excellent fourth O-lineman to the class. Anyhow ... color me not worried.

I've checked into it more. There seems to be word out around the area where Pirsig lives that he's going to be going to Minnesota. Multiple posters with different team allegiances seem to be confirming this. Given that usually where there's smoke there's fire ... I'm now anticipating for Pirsig to pull the trigger for the Gophers. A very good "get" for the Gophers.

Iowa's status with Kozan seems pretty good ... so I'm more than happy with having Iowa initially land a trio like Keppy, Ward, and Kozan. What will be particularly intriguing is that Iowa is probably slated to take 4 O-linemen in this class. Thus, I'm curious who will end up filling the 4th spot.

Michigan fans still seem pretty confident about their chances of landing Diamond ... and Wisky fans like their chances if he doesn't choose Michigan. However, given Iowa's success in Chicago this recruiting season .... I wouldn't underestimate the recruiting pull of guys like Fleming, Johnson, and Ward. I'll be really curious to see how Diamond's recruitment ends.

If they end of getting Kozan and Schoff. That's probably it for this class of OL. Would love to have one more "name" OL, but regardless that areas a recruiting and development strength so, I expect that to continue.

Would really rather have another high "three-star" or "four-star" DL recruit. In the near term, Nate Lohn, seems a reasonable possibility.

With Keppy (though I think he's a guard) and Ward at OT, maybe Pirsig or Diamond aren't as excited about Iowa. I don't know. I would love to get either one of those guys, and Iowa needs another DE.

Iowa intends on taking 4 guys. I doubt that the fact that Iowa has landed two guys would be enough to scare away Pirsig or Diamond. Also, just as long as the guy is adequately tall ... then I wouldn't bother to make the distinction between a guy being slated to play OG or OT. Mike Jones was an OT recruit and ended up at OG. Yanda was an OG recruit and ended up at OT. Seth Olsen was a guy who projected at both ... and ended up playing A LOT at both spots. Lastly, almost all of our more recent "star" o-linemen have seen action first at OG before moving to OT.

Another thing is that the OL-recruits from Iowa's '11 recruiting class were exclusively interior linemen. Blythe will likely land at C and Walsh is OG material. Thus, I'd expect us to go a bit more heavy on OTs in this class. So far I'd say that Keppy is a guy who could end up projecting at EITHER OG or OT and Ward is definitely OT material. Also, thus far, I like our chances with Kozan ... and my impression is that he's definitely more of an OG-type. Thus, that would leave us wanting to finish off the class more with an OT-type.

How the hell isn't Kozan considered a "name" OL? He's a 4 star on the other site and his offer list is absolutely incredible. His Rivals ranking and offers are a hell of a lot more impressive than Pirsig's.
