Jon Clay

I couldn't help but notice his very large gut. I know of no other football running back in college or pro currently playing with a gut like that. To be that fat and fast is freakish. It works well against the teams with small defensive lines, but teams like Iowa and Ohio State will continue to clobber him.
Against those two defenses, he only averaged 20 Carries 67 yards. Wisconsin is 0-4 against Iowa and Ohio State when Clay starts. I look to see Montee Ball get more carries this year against us.

I was thinking the same thing about him running against Iowa's Defense. I would rather see them play against Clay than a guy who can bust one for 90+ yards any given snap.

Keep eating Clay.

Last night I could not tell him from an offensive guard. He is big but I can't see him breaking out for 50 to 60 yds. That weight is going to wear on him before the season plays out.

He looks...fat. Fat isn't a wonderful thing. Muscle is, but the beer gut won't make him faster, more powerful, or have more endurance :)

For some reason I don't think Doyle will have Coker rockin the spair tire. You don't see anyone really on iowa that looks like that.

Good points. Iowa's team looks pretty fit. Weight matters when it's not just fat.

Even though Michigan's defense is much maligned, that team looks fit as well. Not a fat dude out there.

Wisky, on the other hand, is cheddared beyond recognition :)

Michigan's Strength & Conditioning Coach - Mike Barwis - is a motivated maniac.

Clay is always somewhat heavy, but he is not fully in game condition yet due to having surgery on both ankles in the offseason. I live in Madison, and the local guys said they were expecting Clay to only play 15-20 plays (not carries) in the first 2 games. Montee ball is a good backup, and the freshman White is a speed back who is handling returns. They are supposedly red-shirting Zach Brown, who is a senior.
