Jon, am I off-base with this assertion about bowls' involvment in the CFP rankings?

Jon, do you think I'm off base with this, or cynically realistic?...

The bowls and ESPN have too much money involved to sit back and just let the committee select everything, right? There are behind the scene dealings and if the Rose wants Iowa or OSU they'll encourage the committee to rank that team higher so that they can say, "see, we picked the higher ranked team".

Isn't that part of why they announce the semifinalists at 11:30 and other four games not until 2:00. They need time to talk to the bowls and finalize their rankings to fit (ie: if Rose, Fiesta, and B1G agree that Iowa should go to Pasadena and Buckeyes to Glendale then Iowa will be ranked higher so that Rose can say they took the higher team)

Am I wrong about this process?

Congratulations. You have discovered that college football may have some corrupt elements. Who would ever believe that? :)

On a serious note, my fear is if we lose Saturday, they'll figure out a way to bounce us out of Top 11.
