Joey Labas Comfortable with Iowa Football Commitment After Unusual Recruitment

Thanks Rob for posting this story. It was nice to have something positive to think about for a change.

These guys coming in at qb have so much confidence in themselves! It's great to see and I look forward to seeing how their careers play out.

Love the fact he's a dual threat guy but sees himself as a pocket passer who can keep plays alive with his feet.

I like hearing about how we get in early on a kid and say he's looked at as a 3 star middle of the pack prospect at first then by the time they get to their SR yr they are a 4 star everybody wants him kinda prospect. I like seeing kids that are improving and developing at that stage. It's one thing if they are in a gimmicky offense getting cheap stats. It's another if they are reading defenses making decisions out there on the fly and making plays.

247 bumped him to a 4-star recently. Rivals still has him as a 2-star, but I suspect it will move him up to at least a 3-star.

I would not be surprised to see program, perhaps some with less crowded QB rooms, take a run at him before December signing day.

Comparisons are always iffy, but who would you compare Labas' game to?

I would say if we're looking at Iowa QBs of the KF Era, while not identical by any means, his skill set reminds me of a healthy Beathard. He has that ability to play from the pocket but also make plays off schedule when things break down. I think that was one of CJB's best attributes.

Drew Tate comes to mind at being very good at that as well. He scrambled but always looked to throw, rarely did he tuck the ball and run.
