Joe Wieskamp #16 in nation and 5* according to ESPN

Welcome aboard Joe. You're going to play a large part in some really impressive Hawkeye wins. Glad you're here.

This is great. He and Connor McCaffrey can hopefully spend a lot of time working on another buddy or two to join them. My only concern is, Joe is so young the blue bloods are gonna be working on him overtime to sway him the next couple years. Crossing my fingers he stays with the Hawks...a lot of time between now and signing day.

It's huge. That's really the only way you can put it. If Wieskamp sticks to his commitment then the Hawks have 4 legit players already committed (or pretty much so) within a 3 year period who will likely be starters or contributors at 4 different positions. Pemsl in the post probably as a 4, Connor likely at PG, Wieskamp likely as a 2 or maybe 3 if he continues grow, and then Patrick will probably end up being a 3.

That's 4 legit players you can count on for the future. That's 4 legit players you can tell other recruits they'd be playing with. That should help tremendously on the recruiting front. Especially when targeting a big man and maybe a more athletic guard who can get to the basket. Those are two pieces that would fit in well with this group.

Plus Cryfan already has a 30 page thread about Wieskamp's commitment. It's classic little bro posts too. They are desperately trying to make excuses as to why he isn't that good anyways. Lil bro gonna lil bro.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure Pemsl counts as a legit player any more. I think he was hurt most of last year, and he was hurt again recently and will be out another 6 months. There are no guarantees, but it's hard to think a guy who missed his jr and sr years of high school will be a huge contributor at the Big 10 level.

Pemsl missed 7 of 27 games last year. He is expected to be ready to play in December for this coming year. I would hardly call that missing his jr and sr years of high school.

He would be a perfect fit in Bo's system. And don't think Bo wouldn't wave his two Final 4 rings in Wieskamp's grill.
