Great coach, innovator, had some epic battles against the Hawks in Kinnick and in West Lafayette

I saw the article on this on the Big 10 Networks FB page. It said Tiller changed the face of the Big 10 when he took over Purdue. I don't agree with that at all, Hayden Fry changed the Big 10 in the 80's. Before Hayden, it was the Michigan/Ohio St league. RIP Joe.

Yes and before Hayden it was mostly run, run, run.

Tiller brought "Basketball on Grass" to the B10 before "Basketball on Grass" was cool...an innovator for sure.

made purdue from a dog crap team to a team that made the rose bowl and was always one to take seriously, not an easy task. Dude could coach. Plus the 'stache.

When I saw he passed I thought how much he changed the B10 in the 90s was a further evolution from the way Hayden had done 15 years earlier in the 80s. Very similar trajectories, but sadly neither could win a Rose Bowl on their trips there. Great coach, RIP.
