just said that his sources indicate that Michigan and OSU will be in opposite divisions...UM/Nebbie will be on one side and OSU/PSU on the other side.....that creates some interesting scenarios that I thought weren't possible....I always assumed Michigan/OSU would be locked into the same division to avoid a rematch of "The Game" in the CCG...but it appears that is not the case.

That MI/NE division would be great for us. Way easier than PSU/OSU. We'd have a good chance to compete for a spot in the title game on a regular basis.

My guess if the above is true:

West

Michigan
Nebraska
Iowa
Minnesota
Illinois
Northwestern

East

Penn State
Ohio State
Wisconsin
Michigan State
Indiana
Purdue

Each school could have two locked cross division rivals.

Joe Schad also got hung out to dry by his own network when he want on the air saying the Big 12 was dead. Hours later, even as it was becoming apparent that the Big 12 was going to stay (somewhat) together, he was still reporting that it was dead.

As long as RichRod is coaching at MICH, they will never see the B10CG.

Very interesting. If true, then I think you would see...

West

Iowa
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Michigan
Michigan St

East

Illinois
Northwestern
Indiana
Purdue
Ohio St
Penn St

That keeps all the natural rivalries together (save OSU/UM, who obviously would still play each other every year). I don't think they will split Michigan from both MSU & OSU. No way.

So the Saturday after Thanksgiving could feature:

Michigan vs OSU
Iowa vs Nebraska
Minnesota vs Wisconsin
Illinois vs Northwestern
Indiana vs Purdue
Michigan St vs Penn St

No offense to anyone, but this is nonsense. There is absolutely no way OSU and Michigan will be in different divisions. I cannot believe Delaney would ever sign off on that proposition.

IDK once michigan gets rolling again Mich vs OSu twice a year is a cash cow.

It's certainly something that is possible. It is just a matter of whether or not they will protect the rivalry every year even if in different divisions (which I am certain they would). And does the Big Ten want to see OSU & Michigan play to end the regular season and then again in a conf championship game? I wouldn't like to see them play in back to back weeks, but that would be pretty much inevitable.

Fair enough. I should have said no way that the OSU-Michigan rivalry is not protected. (i.e., they are on each other's schedule every year). I thought the implication of this report was that different divisions = they may not play every year. That will not happen, and they would then play twice if both qualified for the B10 Championship game.

Agree that OSU UM could happen more than once a year. Seems like some think that it should be in the RS and BTCG and NCCG! The love for that game is like ESPN for the SEC with the Rabid fans.

once again another thread where everyone is trying to find every which way of not being in the same division as OSU...it could happen

Based on what exactly? Until someone wins with the spread in the Big 10 im taking a wait and see approach

OSU won "a few games" under Troy Smith with an offense that was more skewed towards spread than any other type of offense.

Ohio State won the Rose Bowl last year with an offense that was more skewed towards spread than any other type of offense.

Your wait and see has already seen.

Skewed towards the spread and the rich rod spread are different things. Add into the fact that Rich Rod is a creep and I will continue to wait and see

Also, until UM gets an All Big Ten or Heisman QB i would hold off on the OSU comparisions

I'm very skeptical that the conference would put Michigan & MSU in separate divisions but maybe they think they could play that game early like Texas plays OU each year and then that would be an epic title game. But they wouldn't want to turn right around and have a rematch.

Why not? Do you think they wouldn't play every year? I don't see what it matters, just as long as they play every year, which they will.

Joe Schad is notorious for jumping the gun on stuff like this. Pardon me when I say I'll believe it when I see it from anyone else.
