jNW had 255 yds of offense at Wisky - think about it

As bad as NW's offense is they moved the ball on Wisky this year. It can be done, the hawks have to get in attack mode and I hope the game plan is to go right at them with power run blocking instead of as much slower evolving outside zone. Throw the ball down field and after two weeks I would hope the coaches have some quick slants etc and passes on all levels planned to where wisky is vulnerable. And NW's defense only gave up 240 yards of offense to wisky. A big effort by the defense and the offense does some nice things and the team has a win.

Go Hawks

Wisconsin has done an outstanding job of shutting down Iowa's zone blocking scheme. I think they were the architects and everyone else just copied them.
Iowa better have a plan to go hat on hat this game or they won't be moving the ball on the ground.

Wait a minute.....are you guys trying to get me all excited for Saturday's game? We will know as soon as that ball is kicked off. I agree with you both...hat on hat, do your job, and just give them the business. For Christ's sake, aren't we fucking due against these guys? Stanley, come on bro. In another thread i predicted 16-7 Wisconsin, but Iowa will have their chances. Maybe the Gods will smile down Iowa Saturday

1st play from scrimmage will be a wide zone rush to the short side of the field for a loss of 2.

I hope not but, I can sure see that happening, probably because Ive seen it a hundred times.

Stubborn is okay to a point. But flexibility is always good.

Well, last yr we basically had 250 passing, 150 rushing for 400 Yds vs Wisconsin...at home sure...but...400 isnt necessarily a struggle

Iowa does not exclusively run zone scheme. They just don't.

I think Wisconsin was looking ahead to OSU when they strolled into Illinois. I think the jNW game for wisconsin was a let down after their big win against Michigan. What I take from all of that is a bit of immaturity or just being human.

They have something like 30 sacks this year...most in the country.

My greatest concern is that Iowa does not hold the ball for very long and the D just gets gassed in the 2nd half.

I'm wondering when KF decides that sub par offense has gone on long enough. Man that guy is patient and long suffering when it comes to offense.

IL just lost a good WR for the year. They have zero depth. That said Lovie builds a love for the game and enthusiasm. They had been improving. It wasn't just looking ahead.

Wish KF could bring enthusiasm and get players to go beyond themselves on O. You don't hear Lovie talking about mistakes but focuses on responsibility and team. It's a different approach. He has a long way to go to be Iowa in wins consistently.

This Wisky game is quite winnable. But KF won't adjust...not likely.

Correct. They just run way too much of it out of the same formations. Hell, I can watch them line up and instantly call the play before the ball is snapped, and I'll bet you guys can too. And if we can do it, you know opposing teams can. Waaay too predictable.

I just hope they go for broke this game. Reverse the tendencies on offense, fake a punt, fake a FG, throw in an exotic... but I know KF won't do that. He will play to not lose and get beat 16-9. :(

Line up with a damn fullback and run iso straight ahead. Running out of the gun with 1 back is playing right into Wisconsin’s hands

I'll never forget, in 2014, everytime the audibled I knew it was a run to the right...and so did the defense. Just slam head on the wall.:mad:

The guys on the On Iowa Podcast were of the opinion that Iowa needs to just try to run the damned ball and stick with it...

They have a running qb. Iowa doesn’t and really never does or is allowed to. And ferentz teams don’t throw the ball downfield. And, rarely have gamebreakers at running back. Big differences. And this isn’t even getting into line play or x’s and o’s
