Jerry Kill situation

I heard about a news conference this morning but haven't heard what is going to come of it. If the Gophers fire this guy over his seizures they will pay a hefty price. He is a good coach and has that program headed up. 4 seizures out of the 22 games he has coached. Not a reason to ask him to step aside.

The ADA would have a field day if they forced him out, but if this guy values his life or family at all (not like Urban Meyer, but really), he should willingly step down.

1 seizure every 5 or 6 games isnt a reason to ask him to step down?

I don't think so. He assumes the risk. Just doesn't seem right to me to force him to quit.

I don't think the university should force him to quit but I think Kill needs to look himself in the mirror and ask himself if he really should continue on.

Or, 18% of the time, he is physically incapable of doing his job.

Just got a text from my buddy up in MPLS and the presser is over already. University just said they are standing strongly behind Coach Kill. Nothing new really.

I live in Minnesota and the Press Conference is to put rumors to rest that they stand behind Kill 100%.

Gophers AD Norwood Teague on Jerry Kill: 'I have full faith that we can move forward with the program' | Gridiron Gold | StarTribune.com

“I have full faith that we can move forward with the program,â€￾ Teague said, adding later: "What I go back to is that I support him 100 percent. He's an epileptic. He has seizures. We deal with it and we move on. If I felt like it was affecting things, it would be different."

Doubtful unless he had some public issues with it before at NIU. I've never had a potential employer ask me if I have health issues when I get interviewed.

It was a known issue.

Kill also had seizures on game day in 2001 and 2005, when he was at Southern Illinois, so the university was aware of Kill's condition when he was hired and has long insisted it isn't a deterrent to his ability to succeed in the job. After the last publicized seizure, the one during the Michigan State game last season, athletic director Norwood Teague said the school has "100 percent confidence in Jerry."

you can't ask about it, unless it is a known issue. his seizures happened prior to him at MN, I believe. I'm just saying that since they knew about it at the point of hire, that I doubt it would be a reason to fire.

Thanks Woody

Even if they knew, it'd be considered a discriminatory hiring process. Those lawsuits virtually always go in favor of the discriminated employee/ potential employee.
